Rune The object was a thumb-sized metallic cube. It was surprisingly heavy considering its size.Tristan almost discarded the item othinking it lead junk but after removing some of the caked dirt and moss saw there was a slight marking on one side that looked like an obscured symbol or letter. He turned the cube in his hand under focused scrutiny. Tristan was not sure if his own eyes were seeing something he wanted to be there, creating symbols from the random marks of erosion. He put the object into his finds pouch, his curiosity over the object had been roused and he could hardly wait to see if cleaning the item would provide an further clues to its exact nature. Wiping the dirt from his hair and trousers Tristan stood and made his way back along the forest trail, admiring his surroundings as he went. The sun was soon to set and the last amber rays of sunlight illuminated the trees around him in a majestic glow, they seemed like tall and proud sleeping giants from an age past. A raucous croak and a flap of black wings suddenly passed within inches of tristan's face, startling him. He inadvertently cried out in surprise and threw his arms up in air; his heart was hammering in his chest hard, and the rush of adrenalin instantly sharpened his senses thrusting his brain into overdrive. Panting briefly from the shock he cursed for getting surprised so easily and considered how foolish he must have looked in that instant, a grown man jumping out of his skin because of a bird. Tristan's eyes followed the flight of the crow as it glided away from him, and then it banked and began to swoop down towards him at speed forcing him to duck out the way. When Tristan stood back up he held his breadth and stood stock still
