Alone in the Dark Strolling about, alone in the dark, His mind in a far-away place, The man walks by a familiar park, But he refuses to look, runs away. Strolling about, alone in the dark, His path brings him to an old house, He looks for a while, hears a dog bark, Facing the ground as he cries. Strolling about, alone in the dark, He softly smiles through his tears, Walks under a bridge's low-hanging arc, Then stops, angry at what he sees. Strolling about, alone in the dark, He ran from that horrible place, Before his anger, just that little spark, Could turn into a fire again. Strolling about, alone in the dark, He thinks of that hospital's staff, "We're here to help", such a silly remark, For that they did not, they're both gone. Strolling about, alone in the dark, The cemetery's gloom rising high, Feeling the pain bite down like a shark, He kneels at her grave and he sighs. "I'm strolling about, alone in the dark, I miss you so terribly, darling. I wanted to meet our baby boy, Mark." The man's voice breaks off, he falls quiet. But strolling about, together through light, Are two angels - a mother and son, On earth they both lost a difficult fight, But they watch over who they left behind.
