Soldier He hugs his gun to his shoulder The barrel shiny and slick His finger resting on a trigger His other waiting to flick. His grenade swings limply while he walks His boots are caked in mud And as he looks to the ground He thinks "Maybe even in blood". He sits with his back to the trench The colour drained from his eyes They betray his #life's decay From taking far too many lives. He takes a small step, feet shaking, heart racing His breath comes in pants, he feels slightly bolder His fingers on triggers, his heart pounding loud This, he breathes, is the #life of a soldier
