Just The Way I Am Some of us out there are just not wired to be outgoing. We know exactly what we want to say, but a lot of the time it just comes out wrong. We are often every bit as intelligent as those who are talkative, many times even more so. But some of us just aren't blessed with the ability to find the right words at the appropriate moment. It's a really challenging thing to deal with - it limits our friendships and opportunities to land promotions, makes it difficult to start a relationship and keep it going... heck, it makes it difficult to land a strong first impression when we're looking for work and we almost always get passed over by the social butterflies. It's really a shame the way things work in this world, where so much emphasis is placed on conversation that lasts a matter of minutes: it is within that time frame that potential employers decide whether or not you're a fit for their company, and where people determine whether or not you are relationship material. We are highly impatient, not willing to give something a chance. It's a shame that so many can be so closed-minded, but that has been my experience and I know I'm not alone. I would like to become more extrovert, but it's not really easy and it goes against the way I am wired.
