Ask Me Chapter Three~ Leaning in ~Daniel I waited at the school doors for Astrid. Bad idea. Savannah cornered me with her six minions from before. "What were you thinking Danny? Treating me like... Like I was shit! I could get you anything to wanted. Even more girls. I could share. But, No! You go off with that... That Lance girl!" she spat the last words like they were poison on her tongue. "Shes the piece of shit not me. But don't worry, I want you enough to talk some sense into you babe. If you let me have you for one night you'll forget all about that... Whats her name... Astrin, Aspirin, anyway a sexy boy like you can do better. And I'll-" that was it. "Shut up before I shut you up! You heard me, FOCK OFF! Shes perfect the way she is. Shes better then you. And its Astrid but if you want I can make you need a aspirin!" I pushed her out of the way, "Oh and one more thing, at least Astrid Lance doesn't act like a whore!" As I walked away I saw Astrid standing at the front of the crowd that had formed. As my gaze met her piercing blue eyes she held up her hands, as if I was pointing a gun at her, and walked out the front door. "Thanks." she smiled as we left the building. "For what?" "No ones ever stood up for me... Or to Savannah..." that was the only conversation we had on the way to her house. As we turned the corner and she pointed to her house my eyes became the size of golf balls. It was beautiful. It had black metal gates with wild roses entwining themselves in and out of the bars adding a magical feature to it. Through the gate and over the high hedge I could see a five storey house with red bricks and a snow, white door. "How many acres?" I asked, stunned. "Seventeen and a half." she said as if it was nothing. It was a wonder the school bitches didn't like her just for her money(I assumed she had a lot with the size of her house). "Tula..." Astrid waited. "Tula Wood answer me!" she was panicking. "Ast... Astrid! ASTRID!" "What?!" I passed her a letter with fancy writing on it. It was if the queen herself had wrote it. "Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!" she screamed like a child who had just had a puppy. In her excitement she wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me on my cheek. She let go and read the letter. "Oh shes just took Acer, Thaine, and Kaylah to build-a-bear. Phew!" she sighed, her eyes calming and becoming a softer blue. "Who are Acer, Thaine and Kaylah?" I asked suspiciously. "Oh, Acer is my little sister and Thaine is my lil' bro'. Their only half but their still family, you know. As for Kaylah, shes Kaylah. This may sound weird but shes my child. I wasn't... And I didn't... Shes adopted and I raised her from the second we had the blessing of getting her. Ild feed her from her bottle. Put her to bed. I was there for her first steps. She even calls me 'mummy'. It probably sounds stupid but.." she trailed off. "No its kinda cute... Almost sexy. " She shrugged but blushed a rosy pink and ran her hand over her parting brushing her hair all back. It looked like melted gold spirals. "Anyway take me to your room." she grabbed my hand and pulled me up four flights of stairs to the loft entrance. She had to bunny hop to get hold of the string and pull down the fold up stairs. She ran up them into a converted loft. "This is my room." she stated the oblivious as I stood in awe. She had the entire loft to herself. It was split into three sections. In the middle section there was a coffee table with a sofa bed facing it. On the other side of the wall there was a flat screen tv with video stacks on either side. The left section was a study area and library and the right was an actual bedroom. A king size bed had a cot placed beside it. Probably from when Kaylah was a baby. Astrid let out a single laugh and pulled me over to her sofa bed. She put on 'Dumb and Dumber'. There was no point though. We just talked all the way through it. Finally we drifted off to the argument I had had with Savannah. "You've only knew me a day yet you still stood up for me and said..." she stopped embarrassed. "And said you are perfect-" "Just the way you are..." we smiled softly in unison. We looked into each others eyes and I leaned into her. "Mummy!" a little girls voice chimed interrupting us. Astrid jumped off of her seat and a massive smile spread across her face. "Kaylah!" she screamed happily. "I missed you baby girl!" Kaylah held out two teddy bears. "I made us matching teddies. And TuTu stitched our names onto the ear looky!" Kaylah giggled. "Thank you Kaylah." she smiled. "Hello pretty girl. Im Dan." I said, trying to sound sweet and innocent. Kaylah nodded and went back to talking to Astrid. A boy and girl ran in, I supposed it was Acer and Thaine. "Look Asty. We got teddies to. " they chimed. "Whoa! Look T, look Ace, Nix and Inx have followed you." Two golden Labrador puppies had followed in the children. Their collars read: 'Phoenix' and 'Sphinx'. "Now guys, my friends over, why don't you go and play teddy bears picnic in the fields?" they all nodded and ran out excitedly. "Im sorry, now what were we doing?" she giggled and sat back down by me. Instead of leaning back in, she just sat and talked to me.
