The Empty Time Time has no applicable meaning It's straight, curved, and leaning It's an empty box full of distance It beats down the human resistance It rules us all with its iron grip It has no hands yet uses a whip It crushes down the crumbling hope Leading on, like a perilous rope The pills and alcohol slowed it down But now you can't tell what's solid ground It took you in with its beautiful allure Has it been minutes or hours? You aren't quite sure How long have you been standing here Alone in this empty room Are you still on earth or have you met your doom? Time is a liquid that you can't quite see It's a solid form pulling like gravity It's there even though you can't tell It dwells in the rabbit hole you once fell Now I'm left naked and bare The minutes stretching until they might tear I cannot recall a single face or rhyme I am sinking lost in the nothingness of time
