New Age Chapter 1: Traveling with a thorn at my side My reflection shone in the deep blue water. I grabbed the canteen dangling from my side. Leaning to the water, gently touching it, I collected water and returned to my fire. It had gotten smaller now but bright and warm. I stayed up for about fifteen minutes more, staring at the moon. I soon fell asleep, it was not a well dream. It was not a dream at all, but a memory. A rather bad one at that. I stared at the house, burning, crumbling, smothered with smoke. I stood there in shock. Eyes widened, tears daring to fall. It was my fault. All of it. My mother, and father's divorce. My now dead foster parents, and my severely injured dog. My only friend was going to die now. Everything I owned, loved, cherished. Gone. I ignored the burns on myself. I just wanted to run, hide, maybe jump off the bridge across the street. But I hadn't. I wish I had, but that was nearly 13 years ago. I woke up, eyes moist from the tears that had rolled down in my slumber. I quickly rubbed my eyes and got up. Brushing my long black hair and tied it up. Grabbing the canteen I stole a quick sip and packed everything up. By everything I meant my sleeping bag. I cupped water in my hands and put out the fire. This was my home for two days, but now I have to focus on heading somewhere else. I was running out of things to eat here. My ear twitched, I'm not sure why but my senses had always been enhanced greatly. It was a person, I could sense it. But it might be a deer from the way they step around. "Who are you?" I called out, not turning around. I clutched my nine-inch survival knife. I listened carefully to their step pattern. It was a deer, for dinner. It would be a person otherwise. I turned around slowly and saw. A woman. How? She was graceful, with medium light brown hair, and brown eyes. In her...late twenties, early thirties. "Who are you?" I growled. She examined and smiled as if she was being friendly. I couldn't tell though, I can't trust her. She had a long, thick, wooden bar. You know, one of those things people fight with. She tilted her head and stepped forward. I got a better look at her, she wasn't pretty, but beautiful. I wish I was that good-looking, I had always had a Tom-boy, yet feminine, and masculine look to myself. Not all that attractive. The only thing I like about myself is my light, goldfish brown eyes. That barely appeared brown at all. "My name is Jessica." She held out her hand. I hesitated but slowly reached out and shook it. With my fingerless, black gloves. "My, you have a strong grip. But I expected that of you." Said Jessica. What was that supposed to mean? "Name's Cena." I grunted. "What're you doing out here in the wild?" Oh, I don't know, just checking on the crops. There is none, by the way. "Escaping from humanity." I replied shortly, emotionless. "Oh.." Her face looked puzzled for a second but she brightened up quickly. "You....Do you have any friends?" Jessica asked, how blunt. ".......No...." I muttered. She smiled again. "Smile for me." What? Ugh, this is annoying. "No." I growled. Jessica frowned at had a stern look. "I said smile, mutt. Obey me, dog." She commanded. "Like hell! Did you just call me dog?!" I bared my teeth and hissed back. She smiled again, what is with her?! "I knew it." She beamed and clasped her hands together. "You're a wolf!" I stared at her like she was crazy. "Uh....what?" I scratched my head. "Come with me! I promise you'll be fine!" I quickly drew the hand she grabbed back. "Wait, where are you taking me?" She stopped. "A better place then this." Well, I better follow her then, anything to get out of this horrible place. Chapter 2: New #life We soon arrived at a large, important looking building. "Where are we-" Jessica stopped me. "Home." And she took my in. It was, to put it simply, amazing. It was high-tech and huge. People waked around everywhere. "Follow me so Hector can examine you." Hector? I was quiet as she led me into an office. A man in his twenties with short white hair and glasses was doing work. He looked up and smiled. "New rookie?" Jessica nodded. "She needs to be examined. Cena, Hector will take care of you. Bye." I watched her out. "Follow me." He smiled. "Sure." I said and waked into a large white room. "Here you will be tested while I grade you in this room. This room creates matter. So just wait, the voice will give you instructions." "Kay." I replied. He went into the room. A gray horizontal laser scanned over my body. "Patient 904: Wolf. Intellect: 204 Physicality: 300 Sense: 91 " a robotic voice said through the speakers, soon I went through a series of tests. In about an hour a passed them.
