Silent Steps "Who's there?" My voice seemed tiny among the dead branches in the woods. I had no light to guide myself by. My breath came in shaky whispers as I stumbled towards a distant light. I came upon a silent village, where the lanterns flickered with small white flames. Every house was black (save the silver light of the lanterns) and cold; glass smashed, tables flipped and chairs broken. In one, however, was a small teddy, with button eyes and a sky blue ribbon which stuck out against its white fur. I don't know why I picked it up, but it seemed so innocent. I stared around at the house which seemed... Different. The house walls were the same oak as the others, but with deep scratches and bloodstained. All the furniture had a thick layer of dust, and had the same scratches. "Why are you in my home?" Came a little voice. I swear that my heart stopped for a minute. I turned around, to find a small girl, surely no younger than 5 years old. Her face had a pale waxy quality, but her little brown eyes made her look normal. Boy, was I wrong... "Um... I'm sorry. I was unaware that anyone lived here." I stuttered. She held out her pale hand, which seemed translucent even with the lack of light. Her fingers pointed to my arm. "Your getting blood on my teddy." She whispered in a dusty voice. I stared and noticed the little bears blue bow had a dark crimson liquid, which flowed from a deep gash in my arm. "Oh. Sorry." I breathed. I handed her the teddy, but it fell right through her hand. It fell to the floor, stirring up swirls of dust. I jumped back, as the little girl sighed. "Daddy was mad. Mummy wanted to take me far away, but daddy didn't want to leave the woods." She stared sadly, as if she was crying. "Daddy turned all fluffy, and mummy tried to stop him. I got scared, and cold." She held out her hands, as a gesture. "Mummy couldn't protect me, but can you? I get so scared sometimes." She whined, her arms up, her eyes so apologetic. I stayed perfectly still. She suddenly turned as a piercing howl echoed through the distant forest. "Daddy's said I shouldn't talk to strangers. He'll be home soon." The door suddenly fell, and the full#moonilluminated the shape of something I never dreamed in... It was a hulking wolf, with glowing yellow eyes and a blood caked muzzle. It snarled, and the little girl cowered behind me. "I'm sorry daddy!" Cried the little girl. The wolf growled, and hurled itself forward. To Be Continued... #werewolf #ghost #horror
