Finnick Fanfic #20 I wake to the sound of mockingjays. Their sweet melody fills my ears. The soft blanket is covering me, He must have put it over me. I open my eyes... Finnick isn't here. Finnick isn't here! Where is he? Starting to panic, I quickly wrap the blanket around myself and climb out of bed. That's when I notice a piece of paper on the side table; "meet me at the beach at 70." I can't help smiling at the scruffy note. It's 6:30 now... I have a wash in a small tub of lukewarm water and dry myself off. When I'm warm and dry, I slowly crouch down and pull the old green trunk out from under the bed. I carefully open it, lifting the lid to reveal my beautiful reaping outfit. I unfold the stunning blue dress and slip it over my head. Stood in front of the mirror, I fix the white collar and begin pinning back my long hair, leaving two strands of curly hair either side of my face. At 6:50 I slip on a pair of grey pumps and run out of the door, past the fishmongers, past the bakery. I stop in the middle of the square, before the hall of justice where peacekeepers are scattered and people are pinning up banners and testing out microphones. "1...2...3...1...2..3." Out of the corner of my eye I can see the large glass reaping bowls full of paper slips, it scares me, knowing my name is in there somewhere. My heart pounds and my palms sweat. I don't want to get picked! I don't want to die! I run away, as fast as my legs will carry me, down to the beach where Finnick is sat waiting for me at the water's edge.
