Children Of Amun Chapter 2 When I woke up, I had woke up with more important things to do. No longer a Crown Prince, I was full fledged Pharaoh. I had many things to learn. Something to fill my days. Mother and father had assigned me a lot of things. Father had got me and trainer. He could help me with wrestling and sword fights. My younger brother Pareh had joined, only because Father saw Pareh's prowess in war. But for me it was a requirement. My mother already had tutors teaching me new languages, so that would come first. If your father hadn't had a brain, how could he win battles. She would say. But today mother called me to the palace pool. Near the harem. She sent a messenger saying she had important things to talk to me about. When I went they're I didn't see none of my father's wives. But younger women. Some were clearly Egyptian but I could spot out a Mitanni and Nubian. They all where near the pool. My mother sat out a platform, with ostrich feathers fawning her. She didn't wear her Vulture Crown, but instead a snake diadem. She wore a simple sheath, with out her transparent shawl. "Hello, my son." She said, indicating to a golden seat near her, though less extravagant then hers. "Mother, what is this important thing that you need so urgently to talk about with me." I asked. "Oh, Amunher. Why is always work with you. Sit. Drink. Eat. That business could wake." I was thinking that may have been no business at all. "Do you find any of these woman suitable." I turned my head to the woman. They wore transparent gowns of linen that revealed more skin wet. "Mother. What is this about?" I scrutinized her. She gave a look that dismissed it but then finally gave in. "Amunher, My family were the last to rule Egypt before and they ruined the country." She said. Though I had heard this before, from servent or old Viziers. "Akhenaten neglected his male heirs and ruled had only one son. He had nine daughters." She said. "He was succeeded by his wife and daughter, my aunt Nefertiti and cousin Meritaten" she continued, "After they died, my cousin had to marry her brother to perpetuate the dynasty. Sadly, after her own father defied her at only 12. She lost two daughters. But then my her brother-husband died. My grandfather took the throne and married my cousin. He made my father his successor and my brother Baraka would've been Pharaoh. But Rahotep killed them all. Then my own mother married Horemheb, then died giving birth to me and your uncle, Amenmose." She explained. "My family barely perpetuated the line. But the new dynasty has. Your own father married me at only 16. " my mother said. "Oh, mother what does this have to do with me." I asked, growing with impatience. "You must marry. Your already Pharaoh. You need to marry. You need a family. " She said. Her reasons were great. That's true. But there must be some ulterior motive. She's never gotten this idea about me marrying. "Mother, if this is true. Does that mean you have prepared marriages for Pareh and Meryatum?" She looked a little nervous. "No." She admitted. She beckoned me, closer to whisper into my ear. "Amunher, you need a wife not just for you but for me. If Anubis should ask me to greet Osiris, I don't want the possibility of Iset becoming queen of Egypt. What would that women do with such power. She could send you and your brothers to the barbarians in Syria or send your sisters to Mer-Wer." She hissed, this time tugging on my sheer lined shirt. "But if you marry, the Queenly rights would head to your wife." I couldn't believe it. But I knew it was true. Iset hated mother and with my father's aunt tried to have her killed. She'd have no qualms about doing away with me and my siblings. But was marrying the only way to protect us. What about killing "Now I understand that you want to marry for love. But you must marry. So get to know these ladies, join them. Drink with them. But you must realize this is a #life or death" She said and left. I moVed to her seat I watched the woman from the throne. But really none of the women really seemed that attractive. None reminded me of a Queen. More like simple harem wives. But then a young woman came. She was clearly egyptian but had only wore the simple sheath that strapped over one of her shoulders. But she wore the exclusive Egyptian pectoral, which indicated great power. She surely wasn't a servant. She came up to me, of course bowing. "Oh, hello Pharaoh Amunherkhepeshef." Now up closer she looked familiar, as if I had seen her at court. "Pardon me, but have I seen you." She nodded. "Oh, yes at court. My father is Vizier Hatiay. I have been given the sacred order of following seeing to help or advise these woman during there way into out land. I looked at her, surprised. That wasn't the most perfect job explaining everything to foreigners. But that me she could knew many who could be a Queen. My queen. "Um, what do you think of the women." I asked. "We'll, as you see..." That day I made my first friend as Pharaoh.
