A Visitors' Perspective (Church Folk) I was considered a visitor - when I walked thru the church doors I was the kinda girl everyone had seen before My skirt (too high) my shirt (too low) Yeah I saw the church folk turn up their nose I only stopped by - out of curiosity to see The difference between: the world, the church, and me What I discovered shocked my heart I honestly couldn't tell the world or the church apart Yeah there was clapping and singing, BUT you could tell it was just a show Cause when the music stopped-church folk didn't shout no' more When the lady was praying, she mentioned people like me The kind who make a living, working on the street But I couldn't help but wonder, if these church folk were really like God Why this place feel like a social club But I'm on the outside At least in the club a stranger will speak And the bartender-always offers you a seat That mean ole usher didn't welcome me at the door She looked at me like "well what you here for?" When the preacher got up to finally speak I counted 4 people with one bible each This was disturbing to watch and observe I thought on Sundays', Christians' brought the bible with them to learn There was talking and walking, while the preacher preached One hundred and one people, doin their own thang... Once in a while someone shouts " Amen" I had been in this service an hour or two Subconsciously thinking, so this is what church folk do Sunday after Sunday-they just playing the part Professing to have Jesus-down in their hearts I was wondering-who "their" Jesus could really be? Especially when their hating and gritting On people like me As the service was ending-I was headed for the door That mean ole usher whispered The christian invitation- you must wait for The preacher was calling for the sinful and the lost He was yelling-"come join the christian cause" Of course there were some who glimpsed at me They were crazy to think-this was a place I'd be! If being a christian meant half of what I saw I'll stay in the world, not a church hall Some of them folks-didn't display... Jesus at all, that's why I ignored that preachers call Apart of this mess I shall not be... Them people ain't much different from me!
