A Twist Of Unknown - Invaded (2) A Twist Of Unknown ~ This is the end Hold your breath and count to ten Feel the earth move and then Hear my heart burst again For this is the end I've drowned and dreamt this moment So overdue I owe them Swept away, I'm stolen Let the sky fall When it crumbles We will stand tall Face it all together ~ Skyfall, Adele Chapter Two - Invaded (2) > Eve < From the moment my eyes opened in the morning I knew something was wrong. I felt it and from the loud booming my thoughts were confirmed. I grimaced when I heard another boom that was too close to home for comfort. I sat up and clutched the sheets to my bed. What was going on? "Mother?" I called but there was no answer. "Father?" I tried but I had the same result. The door to my room flew open and Johan stumbled in. His forehead was covered in sweat and he seemed to be out of breath from the heavy rise and fall of his chest. "Johan?" I said in confusion. He ignored me and rushed to my side, pulling me out of bed. "Quickly." He pants. "Get dressed. We must leave." "What-why?" I ask but do as he says. I hurriedly make my way over to my closet and grab the first pair of jeans I find and pull them on from under my night gown. He seems too distracted to notice as he grabs a duffle bag from under my bed and starts stuffing my things into it. "Where must we go? What's happening?" "I'll explain on the way." He says and tosses me a shirt he finds in my drawer. I pull it on without questions and go to put on shoes. Johan goes into my bathroom and throws whatever he can find into the bag. "Quickly." He repeats to me. He goes to my closet and puts a few jeans and coats into the bag. "Johan what are you doing?" I ask in desperation. He doesn't answer me as he rips a green jacket from a hanger and throws it to me. "Put that on." He says swiftly. As i'm putting it on he takes a hair tie from my nightstand and starts putting my hair up. He's fairly good at it. "Okay." He says picking up the bag from floor. "Lets go." He takes my hand and pulls me out of the room. From outside my room you could hear sirens and loud explosions coming clearly from outside. Another resounds and I wince while Johan doesn't even flinch as he maneuvers us around the castle. People are yelling and running around in panic. I catch one of the maids eyes as she's running the opposite way of me and she stops to say something to me. I recognize her from last night. "Oh madam." She says almost in pain. "May this boy get you somewhere safe. God bless you." I barely get out a confused thank you before Johan pulls me away. He leads me to the front door before I catch myself. I plant my feet firmly and stop. "Where are my parents Johan?" He picks up another bag that was layed by the door and shoots me a look. "Somewhere safe." Johan says trying to gently push me through the door but I pull back. I feel my chest wrench from the answer he gives me. Somewhere safe. They left without me? "Your parents?" I ask with pursed lips. Something flashes through his eyes but it goes just as fast as it comes. "Safe." He grits out. "Now come on." I know he's lying but I let him move me through the door. When we're outside i'm immediately blinded with flashes of different colored lights. I throw my arm up to shield my eyes and duck behind Johan's body. "Johan?" I cry out. "Johan! What is happening?" My heart pounds in my chest and I feel my Vines glow to #life. My skin burns and my body jerks with adrenaline. "Don't let go of my hand." Is all he says as he pushes us through large crowds that are yelling out in terror. I feel myself getting that same feeling along with them but hold back. I hear a loud pop then the most horrific thing happened. I see a familiar blue building go up in flames. The Blythe building. My mouth opens to let out a scream but nothing comes out and I just breath thickly, stumbling ahead with Johan who seems to be ignoring everything thats happening around him. I look away from the burning building and try to stay focused on Johan's back but it's hard to ignore these types of horrible things. I hear loud whippings of air and look up to the sky. There are helicopters and planes that are unfamiliar to me. "Someone trying to break the barrier we have around the city." I distinctly remember my father saying. Could it be true? Has the barrier been broken? "Johan." I breath out in despair. I blink away the sting in my eyes and swallow the lump in my throat. My city. Its being invaded. Something in my veins throbbed. My blood pumped twice as fast and my face grew red. I felt my fear turn into anger in seconds. Who dare terrorize my city! "Johan, who is causing this?" I all but growl. I hadn't noticed we were running until I look up to see Jonah breathing hard. "I don't know." He breathes out indignantly. We reach the plaza and Johan stops to observe it, as if he's searching for something. I look too but see nothing but crowds and crowds of people. "This way." He says pulling me toward the clock tower. As we make our way through the unforgiving crowd, a man shoves around Johan and grabs my arm. His eyes were like an animals and the harsh breath that leaves his mouth burns my skin. "You!" He growls pulling on my arm. I stumble forward and tried ripping my arm away from his grasp but it was like iron. "Your precious father did this you little brat!" I open my mouth to retort but he was shoved away from me. "Don't touch her." Johan says fiercely, stepping in front of me. Johan's face is tense and filled with annoyance. Before the man could do anything Johan blows his fist across his face, knocking him to the ground. "Come on, we have to keep moving." I blink and stare back at the man knocked out cold on the ground, feeling bad for him as we move up the steps of the tower. Johan pulls on the door but it doesn't bulge. He curses and puts down the bags. He turns to me and gives me a look I can't put a name on. "Keep watch." He says and turns back to the door. I only get to see him throw himself against the door before my body turns back to the crowds. Its then that I see whats happening and think that Johan has no need to explain anymore. Those helicopters I saw earlier were dropping explosives onto our buildings and the planes were filled with reinforcements. They had destroyed the barrier and are now terrorizing my city. "Eve!" I hear Johan yell. I turn and see him inside the tower. He gestures for me to follow him and I look back at the crowds. "Lets go!" I turn away and run inside the tower. Johan and me rush up the steps and I soon find myself out of breath before we reach the top. As we turn the last corner of the steps to the building that lead to the top of the clock tower, I hear an explosion so loud my ears ring. What building did they take down now? And then I smell it. It was clear; the tower, they bombed the clock tower. The smoke reaches us before the fire does, its thick, venomous and unforgiving. It wrapping around us like a blanket and makes my eyes water. The fire catches up and nips at our heels. It growls at us, and lashes out taunting and teasingly. I yell for Johan to go for door to the roof but he refuses to leave me behind. The fire circles us, its tips flying out at us and bites into our skin like a snake sinking its teeth into its prey. When the fire touches my vines it sends insufferable pain to shoot through me. I scream out and lose my grip, stumbling my way forward. My vines throb with need and I groan from the affliction. My head pounds so hard I lose my sight and if it wasn't for Johan grabbing onto me, I think I would've fallen down the steps. "Damn it Eve." He growls and picks me up bridal style. He moves up the last few steps and kicks open the door to the roof thats too blurry for me to point out the details of. The sound of air whipping reaches my ears and soon enough I feel my hair being blown around. I hear yelling over the ring of my ears and fear takes over me. "Johan?" I call out in panic, trying to get my vision back. "Johan, whats going on?" I feel his grip being ripped from me and I fall onto the ground. My knees scrape and I grimace in pain. Everything around me is blurry and moving too fast that I can't stay focused. I push my hands out to catch myself before my head hits the floor and cry out in agony when I feel pain tear through my wrists. "Eve!" I hear Johan yell. I hear something in his voice that rises the bile in my throat and makes my head spin. "Johan!" I call back in terror. I feel around and move myself to try and stand up-even with my wrists that were screaming for me to stay still-to just fall right back down. There are voices I don't recognize and figures surrounding me that I can't see. The fear I get from this makes my skin crawl and burn with disgust. My head spins and I'm back on the ground, my hot cheek slams into the roof pavement but I don't feel the pain, only the coolness of it touching my burning skin. I hear my heart pound feverishly in my chest and I start to see black dots, like black paint being splattered onto a wall. "Don't touch her!" I hear Johan yell. His voice pierces my ears, causing unbearable pain to cut through me before i'm sucked into darkness.
