Vietnam Veteran Memories they burn me I served my country well. I made it out of a nightmare only to find myself in hell. So many regrets, so much blood upon my hands. Seen my brothers blown to pieces now they rest in distant lands. I still hear the children screaming as flames burn them to the core, So many things that I've done wrong all in the name of war. Coming home without my legs I thought I'd be a hero, Spit upon and hated by all, my country gave me zero. I can try to drink this pain away but the memories come flooding back, I wish that I'd died out there now my worlds been painted black. Do you think I'm going to heaven after the horror that I've dealt, Perhaps I'm already in hell my punishment the pain I've felt. Memories they burn me I served my country well, Survived an endless nightmare, now I dwell in hell!
