Opening Weekend Of the Barclays Premier League. Top 4. Hi I'm Ryan Coxon and I thought I'd do a blog post on my thoughts of the opening day of the season; but I'll be focusing on last seasons top 4 for now. from what I've gather from the opening day of the season i feel the strong contenders for the title are still most certainly Manchester untied. they demonstrated this through the fact they went to a swansea side renowned for their fluent football with added signings to perhaps make that fluent football a forceful attack. but staying with the aspect of signings Man United haven't made any and have a team that the other 16 teams in the league re familiar with yet swansea were unprepared for this and thats what makes Mancheter untied the front runners for the title in my opinon for the 13/14 season. stick with what you know. this doesn't seem to be a possibility for Arsenal i feel as its not the attacking aspect they lack but the goalkeeper, the whole team i feel is on edge and nervous that their goalkeeper may create a blunder out of a simple back pass or be sent off for a foolish action, this isn't the first time I've felt Szczesny is a liability. the fact they kept a high line and were willing to dive into a tackle and not wait for Villa to play into their half, i feel, shows they wanted him there as a last resort. but in all honesty Villa were great, keeping up the back end of last seasons good run they showed that youth is coming good, perhaps a policy arsenal have let drop or tail off in recent years. Arsenal will be lucky to finish 6th in my opinion, this is due to the high volume of games the squad will need to play and it isn't a deep squad, but if they get knocked out of their tournaments or cups early that will be the end of Arsene Wengers Arsenal career, a fine line is approaching for him, if he makes signing in the week to come the pressure will be eased as the excuse of allowing a team to gel will be in affect, but still he needs to tread carefully and keep hiss calm infront of the press. but tonights win against Fenebache was a plus aginst a team who knew they were out of the CL more or leess. Chelsea were off to great start and also added another 3 points tonight. but i'd rather talk about the opening game, in my opinion in the next 3-4 years, regardless of the manager they have in charge will become a superforce again, win the CL again but with style power and grace not 5 dismil displays of parking the bus from the first whistle. This i feel is down to the abundance of youth coming through the squad but also the age of the older players meaning they will be soon surplus to the squad and wont have as much of a say as in previous years. the first 30 minutes was sublime but the hole game would have been even better with Lukaku starting from the beginning. Chelsea at the moment are between a Rock and a Hard place with Fernando Torres being on their pay roll, its hard to see whether he'll ever recapture his form of past liverpool days but it doesn't look as though he will, not even his style of running looks natural any more or even as powerful. Ba was a buy to boost their options and now he realises he was just a impulse buy. but Lukaku and De Bruyne are the future back bone of Chelsea. I was surprised to see Steve Bruce bring a style of football to hull and look as though, if the right striker is brought, can create cutting edges chances that will pay dividends. i fancy Hull to survive this campaign. Manchester City done me a great favour on Monday, Beating Newcastle, i'm a sunderland fan but more so a fan of football and enjoy any team that plays football how it sshould be. But they look stronger under Pelligrini, a manager willing to adjust, unlike his predecessor. this will be a good appointment in the tittle race but more importantly in their Europe adventure. the signing that is still giving me a uneasay feeling is that of Fernandinho, a player like Chelsea's Ramires but i a 30 million pound price tag for a player who is all about running and hard hitting and is nearing a age that is critical for a player, it just makes other poorer teams feel even a ordinary player will cost too high of a price. But as i thought Jesus Navas put in his regular consistent performance. Agreat player has been bougth aswell as Jovetic but i'm still uncertain about negredo, especially when Dzeko and Aguero ar on the score sheet, i'm a man who enjoys his facts and one that stuck was tha tlast seaason of the 26 or so Goals Negredo scored in the league, Navas, who is quite an exceptional player in terms of chances created, only chalked up a Single assist amongst Negredos goals, so that will be on to look at, Man City will push right till the end but i fell the emphasis will be on Their European ambitions instead. Newcastle, from a footballing view are going to pay the penalty this season and the main reason is the Alan Pardw effect, a subtle arogance that flows into him afteer a few games won and that caught up to them last season and i dont feel Loic Remy will replace Ba nor inspire a low confidence team. my table come end of the season: 1.Manchester United 2.Chelsea 3.Manchester City 4.Tottenham Hotspurs 5.Liverpool 6.Arsenal 7.Aston Villa 8.Swansea City 9.Southampton 10.Everton 11.West Ham 12.Fulham 13.Southampton 14. Sunderland 15.Hull City Tigers 16.West Bromwich Albion 17.Newcaste United 18.Cardiff City 19.Crystal Palace 20.Stoke if any one has any thing to say id welcome it. I may do a post on new managers and signings in afew days depending if the whole blogging thing is for me. Ryan Michael Coxon.

Of course Man United can't be written off. They have the same squad that won the league last term but that might also be their weakness. United's only competition this time around will be Man City, who have spent silly amounts this transfer window, Chelsea who have bolstered there already great squad and I think Spurs will surprise everyone this season. Spurs have apparently been printing money. I don't see Arsenal doing anything. Wenger has lost the plot. He gets his team to play very good football but that is not enough. They have no one up front and I can't see Theo being anywhere near as influential as Van Persie of Thierry Henry. With the transfer window closing soon they are apparently buying a midfielder to add to their list of 234 other midfielders, not just any midfielder though, no!. A Newcastle United midfielder. I see your team being the leagues dark horse and will finish easily in the top 10. I dare say in the top 6!. Di Canio has signed some good, hardworking players and that lad he signed from Juve will probably be your best signing since Super Kev or worst case scenario, Tore André Flo. I think, for MUFC to win the league we need to sign a world class (obviously) midfielder. A ball playing midfielder. I suggest Kaka. We also need a midfield who knows what tackling is. That midfielder who Arsenal want I reckon
