The Little Orphan Hey, you. Yes, you. Come here. Who am I? Most people call me a rat, a beggar. Oh, you meant my name? My name is Joseph. I'm homeless, as you can see. Wait! Don't go! I want to tell everything I have in my heart to someone. Where's my mommy? She passed away years ago, couldn't take the labors and died. Would you like to hear my adventure? It's interesting, I promise. I was born in a little village. In a horse stable, how my babysitter told me. As I said, my mom died because of hard labors. The stable owner didn't want to keep a " beggar " in his house and sent me to the orphanage. I don't think that the babysitters cared about me well, because I was always sick. They didn't have breast milk, and fed me some disgusting powder mixed in water. They said that I was the worst out of all the orphans, because they didn't grow up children from their baby age. I always required more food cause of sickness, but they never fed me. There always was half loaf bread and a little part of cheese. If someone asked for tea, they would give a fourth cup of cold water. Nothing else. I didn't have any friends. Guess why? They thought that it was because of me that they were eating little food, but we all had equal meals. They laughed at me. Bigger orphans sometimes bet me. That was my #life before. So you're wandering 'bout other orphans? They were nothing different from me. All very skinny, with bones showing. No one washed us, so mostly white children turned into pure black ones. We got many diseases because of that, and more than a half of the orphans died every year. The principal always brought cheap doctors wandering in the streets who made everything even worse. I guess it's the faith of all orphans, isn't it? Once, I got tired of living like this and decided to escape. I chose the time when no one was watching, and leapt out the window. I walked many, many miles. Often slept in rain, snow, wind. I didn't have any clothes except a withered shirt and trousers. Then, I reached this town. It was full of rich people. Rich, selfish people who treated poor like animals. Even some of the poor didn't bother looking at me. I lived just with stealing stuff from the markets. Once, I got caught stealing a watermelon. The shop owner almost murdered me. But then, a kind man payed for the watermelon and gave it to me. I want to be like that kind man, but can't. I don't have any money, or education. I could help other poor, but I can't continue stealing all the time. That's why I called you. Please, make my wish come true. Help other poor. Never become like those horrible rich men. Don't look at beggars from top just because they are beggars. And God will thank you. So will I. Note : I hope you got something from this story. Never look at people from top just because they don't have as much money and expensive stuff as you. Love you all! <3 bye!
