Alone
Every time I pass this old church
I always look on the left side of the road
It reminds me of this old lady sitting on the bench
Alone, head down, dozing off
She had this great curve on her back
Just sitting there alone while people are passing by
I took a picture of her only because it caught my eye
Not knowing that scene will be with me after all these years
20 long years or more had passed by
I still drive by that same street by the church
I instantly still find myself looking on my left
The bench is now gone, what was I looking for?
I'm sure she's long gone by now
What an impact I thought she had on me
A soul was once on that very spot
Unnoticed as people walked by
It's a subject that makes me think
What happens when we leave this earth
Does the spirit linger where you frequented the most
Does it stay in a place where you impacted someone the most
Do we ever leave this ever evolving earth?
Or become just memories imprinted in the minds
Of the rest of the living who it once loved?
Touched? Intrigued? Or simply crossed path?
