Home #beginningline The frosted grass cracked underfoot as winter took a hold of the night. My hands were stiff with cold even though I was wearing gloves. The soft wool was doing its best to fight off the cold, but the icy wind was too strong. It broke through the gloves defences and attacked my skin, leaving it bright red and frost bitten. Thoughts circled through my mind, the rhythmic sound of my footsteps sending me into a kind of trance. The steady beat helped my thoughts flow and progress. The cold icy night, Just waiting for dawns light, A few steps more, Not too long before, I get back home, No longer alone, See my family, Not just me. We, See my little boy, The delight and joy, Shown on his face, Bitter thoughts will be erased, Thoughts of my bad day, Will all go away. My thoughts kept circling in time to my footsteps. Keeping me company until I reached the door. I knocked on its hard surface bruising my stiff, cold, frost bitten hands. My knocks only made a small, soft tapping noise. No one inside could hear. I fumbled for my keys. My numb fingers made this difficult to do but eventually I unlocked the door. The warmth of home welcomed me ,enticed me, surrounded me. Taking all the bitter cold away and replacing it with the comfort of a familiar place. I stepped in, a smile on my face and closed the door.
