The Beginning This is just a little preview of what I plan on continuing. It's a tough story for me to write and I'd like critical feedback on the story. Do you want to read more? Should I stop? I've never done anything like this before. So here it goes.. It's Christmas Eve 2003 and Mom has invited a man she's never met to come stay with us for the week. He's strange, skinny, full beard, glasses, and a southern accent. Lost in excitement Mom has forgotten about Kevin and I, this Christmas I recieve a box of chocolates purchased Christmas morning at Walgreens. Mom has always been very overprotective of us and it's weird to feel this sort of neglect. Anyway, at least he's leaving soon. As the week continues, Mom stops coming home, I'm 13, Kevin is 12 we have no money, no food, I'm not really sure what to do. The week is up, Ed is leaving today, well at least he's supposed to. Mom tells us he's extending his stay. Great. The apartment is small and there's not enough room for all of us, things are awkward. I'm already pretty sure Ed has a drinking problem, and Mom is starting to join. The family finds out about Mom inviting a stranger she met on the internet whom she's been binge drinking with to stay with her and her two children. Dad wants to fight for custody. I'm scared now. I don't really like to spend time with Dad, he's a large man, mean and scary. I have no family to talk to right now besides Kevin, since Mom is lost in "love" and beer and isn't coming to her senses. What if I have to leave the only place I know and move in with dad...
