Taking Mr Melo into the kitchen, I sat him on the Work top and thanked him for the previous night, it had been fun. #life With My Chocolate Lab Yodi Part 1 I have a beautiful chocolate Labrador called Yodi, he will be two this August. I thought it would be fun to blog about him as he makes my #life so interesting. Like all chocolates they are hard to train ( have you ever seen a chocolate Guide dog?) and my lovely Yodi doesn't like to play by the rules! Yesterday my mum was working and didn't have the time to walk him so I took it upon myself to do it. We live right next to the woods and just up the road is the canal, it is a beautiful area and perfect for walking dogs. The moment he spotted his lead his face lit up like a lightbulb, he knew I was taking him out. 'come on Yodals!' I yelled standing next to the front door and in he ran like a gazelle being chased by a lion. I gave him a stroke and tried to calm him down and went to put his halti on, he stared at me as if to say "I ain't shoving my head in that! Forget it!" and he backed away. After about 10 attempts he finally decided to have it on and sat patiently. I have to use a halti because no matter how hard I tried I could never him to walk to heel, and when I would take him out he would run down the road and I would be paragliding in the air behind, So having a halti was the only solution! Now, we were walking down the road, the sun was shining, he was extremely well behaved... ! I turned to go up a road towards the canal but he didn't feel like going up the road whatsoever. Suddenly he started to back out of his collar and halti and gallop in freedom in the other direction! My heart fell like it was going to jump out of my chest! "Yodi!" I kept screaming down the road, he wasn't paying any attention, and kept running until some neighbour grabbed him and held him still until I reached them both. I was so embarrassed. I slipped his collar back on and walked him home. When we got home he came up and started licking me, and trying to snuggle into me, I couldn't be mad with him. I love my crazy chocolate lab!
