Forgotten Prayers Is it distress then that had brought me to your door? For it wasn't love, that feeling had abandoned me years ago. When I stood on the porch nervously wringing my dress My head a whirlwind of accelerated thought process. The autumn leaves, I noticed you hadn't swept away The front yard was unweeded, A wild garden of disarray. The bell I finally ring, with a sudden lack of conviction Was I right to come back here, When trouble lurked by my mansion? Minutes pass, still no sign, Not a creak, not a sigh The door remained unopened. Now that i look around with more care, The armchair on the porch seemed broken The glass paned windows looked unopened. The door I pushed with apprehensive fingers It swung open with a wail and a cloud of black grey dust. Gingerly I stepped inside, calling out 'anybody here?' As expected there was no response No furniture, no sign of #life anywhere! Surprised I walked out, and inquired in dismay 'why is the church without candles, without altars Who sent my god away?' The stranger replied rather amusedly ' my dear child you must be mistaken The father's still there, the sinners still pray And the pews still fill up on Sundays.' Then I recalled As forlorn as I was The love I had begotten many years before from this God. The god of mine The supreme divine Had closed his doors on me For the passion of Christ, only demands one price Which I had indeed not given In my good times, when he called me to thank The importance of his need I had forgotten.

And then I find it hard to comprehend. How can I walk another step, why am I in this distress. The wound bleeds incessantly, now I am a loser in this battle for dreams. I care no more for presentations. I care no more for beauty. It's pain that u see adorning me now. The torment of the night gone by, Is the kohl now underlining my eyes The scent of forgotten letters clinging to me. My lips red not with paint but blood, as I chew them to keep my cries unheard While the twigs stuck in my hair, are due to the times I had to run away in despair. I'm a candle now, no more lit, The wax has melted away, Just a burnt wick in the mercy of the wind.

Eternal Twilight The wind is silent. As silent as the birds that are deep in rest Awaiting the golden hue to be cast over the mountain crest. But dawn is yet to come Now, it is the fragile instance before the daybreak. A time when neither day claims nor night. The time of eternal twilight. Like the sheen of a smooth white pearl, Reflecting the serenity it is surrounded by, Untouchable, irreplaceable, unconquerable pure light Embracing the world before the arrival of daylight The platinum skies of eternal twilight. Trodden upon in the course of #life By hunters during the day And nocturnal predators at night; The prayer and panic threaded through its long blades It's purity after the relentless fight does fade, Till the dew drops touch removes their plight The dew kissed grass at eternal twilight. .

The Incessant Downpour The clouds bulging with the iron weight they carry, They bellow and charge down to the pale grey ground below, The ice cold drops mingling with the clay and dirt Rivulets of dark blood dripping down the pavement. The rain thunders on Silencing the charade of this world at large; Some end up sitting and staring in wonder at the blessed fall Others hiding beneath the covers of their pretentious parasols. Angered by our insolent embrace of innocence The rain cleaves through our warm bodies Leaving us shocked, cold and grey. The mocking countenance ripping our smiles away. The grains sullen and drenched droop to the floor The joy gone from the downpour, the children play no more Everywhere there's silence, Hesitating and unsure While the rain heralds the darkness Cloaking the incessant downpour.

Down where silence touches the deep Where my soul it's sorrows doth keep Strewn on the ground like the autumn's brown leaves, My sadness reaches infinity. Trapped in this timeless eon Tears grace my eyes. The battles won are no more than losses The banner lost in the midst of strife.
