My name is Camery, I am recently divorced and I am now following my dream of writing :) I love poetry and novels of any kind, but suspenseful romance is my favorite. My dream is to be published, whether it became a best seller or an old copy in the back of the library, it wouldn't matter to me. As long as it had been read and became someone's favorite book :) any and all recommendations or constructive criticism is encouraged and appreciated! Happy reading!!

Freya Chapter 3 Danielle couldn't help the smile that spread across her face. As much as she knew she should stay away from this handsome man, her body felt drawn to him. He smiled back at her with those full lips. The green of his shirt brought out the intensity of his eyes, and she was reminded of her dream. "Did you have a place in mind?" Leo asked, trying to keep the sexual tension that this woman seemed to provoke in him out of voice. "I know a small sandwich shop we could go to." "That sounds perfect." "Let me just grab my purse, I'll meet you at the elevator." She replied. She needed a second to get herself together. "Sure." Leo turned to set down the file and started walking out of the room. As he passed her, his arm casually swept past hers, tussling up that sweet sensual smell again. He inhaled deeply, wishing he could bottle that scent and keep it in his pocket for those lonely nights. Danielle grabbed her purse quickly and gave her blonde hair a swift fluff. She strode from the room feeling cool and confident. She could handle this man. That confidence quickly faded when her gaze fell back into those green eyes standing by the elevator. And that coolness slid into a warmth that nestled cozily between her thighs. Could she handle this man? Oh she could, but not in a way that would exactly be considered professional. "Ready?" He asked kindly. The lopsided grin was infectious, and Danielle felt herself smile in reply. Leo pressed the button for the first floor and they rode down in silence. The tension in the air not going unnoticed. "We can take my truck if you like, it's parked right in front." Leo offered. Danielle hesitated. Surely he didn't consider lunch a date? "I don't mind driving." She said, not unkindly. Leo stepped closer to her, and Danielle could smell the masculinity of his cologne. "Look, I know we don't know each other very well, but I would like to get to know you. I mean, we are sharing the building and all." And that lopsided grin made a second appearance. How could she say anything when he was looking at her like that? "I guess you have a point there. But I will drive this time, you can ride with me." She said, he needed to know she was in control of her emotions. And a part of her needed to prove it to herself as well. Leo couldn't help the swell of respect he suddenly felt for this woman. But he also felt like he was getting a first glimpse at the very large wall Danielle had built around herself. He couldn't blame her, a beautiful woman had to protect heart, but he found himself wondering what had caused it. "This is a very nice car." Leo complimented. "This is no car, this is my baby." Danielle smiled jokingly. The red charger was her pride and joy. Special ordered with black leather interior, 350 horsepower, and standard six speed transmission. "Haha, I can see why." He laughed, so she did have a sense of humor. She handled the car like a pro, taking the curve of the road like a glider, and shifting the gears seamlessly. He was more than a little impressed with her driving skills. "So tell me, where are you from?" Danielle asked. She needed to figure out more about this man who walked through her dreams. "I'm from Shreveport, Louisiana." "Really? I never would've guessed that." "Why, because I don't call everyone by some French slang?" He replied with a small laugh. "Well.. Yes actually." Danielle laughed, amazed at how comfortable she was with this man. "That's stereotype doctor. Not all of us talk that way. My father did, but my mother was from Birmingham so she didn't have that attribute." "You said 'did', as in past tense?" "Yeah.. My father passed away about four weeks ago." Leo explained, his voice dropping a bit. So he was running. Her heart went out to this man beside her. Not wanting to ruin the good vibe in the car, Danielle decided to change the subject. "So what do you think of our small town?" She asked, clearing her throat. Leo smiled, he was tired of the "I'm sorry to hear that" line, he liked how she had handled herself. "I like it actually, my home is outside of the city limits. So I get to enjoy both the city and country versions of south Alabama." "It's wonderful isn't it? My home is outside city limits as well, I couldn't ask for anything better." She liked that he enjoyed the country as well. "Well it's just Brinley and I, she really enjoys the pond and the land." Brinley? He hadn't mentioned being with someone. She had just assumed he was single. She hadn't noticed a ring. "Well your girlfriend is a lucky woman." Danielle tried to keep her reply from sounding bitter. She was surprised when he let out a barrel of a laugh. He had a wonderful laugh. "I'm not much into beastiality, Brinley is my chocolate Labrador retriever." Danielle felt her face darken a shade of red and a giggle escaped her lips. But she also couldn't deny the flood of relief she felt knowing he wasn't seeing anyone. Their conversations went on through out the lunch, and for the rest of the week. Danielle insisted on an ice cream parlor Tuesday, and Wednesday they had enjoyed Mexican. On Thursday, Leo took Danielle to the Red Elephant. Dressed in her casual jeggings, boots, and button down, she felt herself becoming more and more relaxed with him. But she also felt her self control slipping, and that was dangerous. Smiling at her across the table, Leo couldn't help but feel lucky for the past few days. Each morning he had been sure to arrive at nine o'clock on the dot just so he could start his day seeing her. She fascinated him. Her hair and make up always kept so simple, and yet her entire physic spoke of anything but simplicity. She always ordered simple, and not just side salads with a bowl of croutons. She kept her body in shape but she ate whatever she wanted, and he liked that. Danielle couldn't help but blush under his gaze, she could sense what he was doing before she ever looked at him. "What? Do I have something in my teeth?" She laughed, looking up from her plate of country fried steak. "Haha, no you don't. I was just lost in thought I guess." "Well you know tomorrow you'll have to be lost in thought alone, I don't have any appointments so I'm taking the day off to see my father." Danielle made plans to do lunch with her dad at least once a week, but she lost track of herself around this man. His heart sank a little, but then an idea struck. "Well then maybe we should have dinner? Say tomorrow at six?" Danielle hesitated, feeling her pulse quicken and her insides do a small flip. Could she handle herself on a date with him? Hell it was hard enough not to attack him in the elevator. But on the other hand, she couldn't deny the excitement that arose at the thought. "Maybe.. I'll let you know." She replied, she would think on it. Leo's face fell a fraction, but he quickly dampened out the disappointment and gave a kind smile. "I guess that's better than a no." After lunch, it took all of Danielle's will power not to the think of the situation she was now in. She hadn't seen Mr. No Name since last Friday, which means Freya was again getting restless. Tomorrow would make a week since she had been satisfied, and a date with Leo could be too much to handle. Maybe she should get her fix before then.. No, she couldn't keep toying with his emotions. Mr. No Name (Jake maybe?) had already crossed her line by asking her out. She needed to cut him loose. What worried her more than anything was that Freya would take over. She liked Leo, and she didn't want him to become another notch in Freya's belt. Hell, she didn't want Freya to have him it all. But could she do that to herself? Could she take that risk? She knew if Freya locked in on him then any chance of her having a relationship would be destroyed. Was he worth that to her? She toyed with that question in her mind through the rest of the day. Barley staying focused during her appointments, she was glad when the last one left. Gathering her things she went to the elevator. Still deep in thought, she hardly noticed when the elevator stopped on the second floor. But when Leo stepped on board he had her full attention. Using all her strength to keep her knees from turning to jello at the sight of his smile, she took in a deep breath. His scent filled her, rugged and completely man. Looking up at him through her lashes, the doors slid closed. She felt his breath pic up, and she turned her head to see him. Before she could stop herself, Danielle grabbed a handful of his beautiful dark hair and brought his face to hers. He captured her lips in a kiss that promised so much. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he held her to him, tempting her body with his soft lips. His tongue coaxing her to open for him. She did, and the kiss deepened into a sensual spiral. The ding of the elevator broke the spell, and Danielle opened her eyes. That lopsided smile dominated the face in front of her, and she had to remind herself this was not a dream. Those deep green eyes were actually in front of her. Those strong arms still holding her close to that tight, sexy body. "So was that a yes?" He asked, his voice still husky from the moment. Danielle smiled, "Yes." She replied. Gathering herself she straightened her shirt and then walked away. If a kiss could hold that much promise, maybe she could do this after all. e couldn't help the giggle that escaped her lips. Leo was memorized. His smile uncontrollable when he saw that blush stain those beautiful cheeks. This was going to be a long lunch.

Freya Chapter 2 Leo's breath caught in his throat. With the opening of the elevators, what stood before him was the pinnacle of beauty. Deep green eyes now waded into a sea of sapphire blue. Her golden hair lay swept to one side, her makeup simple, but Leo could feel in his bones that there was nothing simple about the woman frozen before him. The red dress she wore clung to the ever so feminine parts of her body. Just modest enough to be professional and somehow still make a man long to see more. Her scent, not to heavy, reminded him of silk sheets, for all he could think about was pulling her into bed and worshiping that body in a tangle of sheets and skin. Suddenly remembering to breath, Leo smiled his best smile and stepped aside. "Excuse me miss." He said kindly. 'What are you doing? Speak!' Danielle thought to herself. Could this really be the same man? She knew she had never met him before, surely she would remember a man handsome enough to give her wet dreams. And yet, here he stood. In the flesh before her very eyes. "Oh, no, you're fine. No harm." She replied, her southern bell charm strategically executed. "Have we met before?" Leo asked. He knew they had not and yet there seemed to be something so familiar about the woman that stood before him. "I don't believe we have. I'm Dr. Stinner. Danielle Stinner." She said, extending her hand. "It's very nice to meet you." He said, accepting her shake. "I guess you and I will be sharing the building. I'm Dr. Leo Odin. I'm taking over for Mr. and Mrs. Tanner." "Oh! Well how wonderful, I know the Tanners very well. I think you'll like it here. It was very nice to meet you." She replied, and with a small nod, headed towards the door. "I'm pretty sure I already do." Leo let out under his breath. He couldn't remember a time when he had ever wanted someone so badly. Stepping into the elevator he could still smell her. Her scent wrapping itself around his body and mind, engulfing his thoughts, among other things. Just the thought of her caused an erection. No, he must focus. He came here to do a job and to get away, not to be swept up by some woman he didn't know. And yet, the thought of those lips brought a smile to his face. Danielle hurried to her car once she was out of sight. How could that be possible? There was no doubt that he was the man from her dreams. She could never forget the depth of those eyes and the beckoning fullness of his lips. Oh how she wanted to taste those lips, to nibble on the fullness before sweeping her tongue over them and ravishing.. 'What are you thinking! Stop that!' She must keep this professional. She never mixed business with pleasure. As indecisive as Freya was with her men, it wasn't safe to get involved with someone she would have to see every day. Besides, it wasn't as if he knew what she had been thinking. She spent the rest of the day trying to forget about him. When Mr. No Name called just as she was leaving the office she knew that he would be the perfect distraction. Plus, she hadn't had sex in nearly a week. Freya was becoming not only restless, but down right grumpy. She needed her fix. "Give me thirty minutes to get home, I'll meet you there." "For you? I'd wait forever." He cooed. "I thought we had discussed this." Danielle did not have the energy nor the mental drive to deal with clinginess tonight. There was just too much on her mind. She just wanted to feel. "You're right, I'm sorry. I'll see you in a bit." Danielle sighed and hung up the phone. She wasn't trying to be rude, but repeating herself was not at the top of her favorites list. Taking the back roads home a little slower than usual, she decided she would make him wait. A punishment for his obsessive behavior. Once she had him tied to the bed posts, Danielle took her time exploring his body. Using a simple feather she lightly teased each nipple, dragging out the pleasure with each flick of her wrist. Jake loved it when she tortured him. When she made him beg for the release. She never used whips or canes, her form of torture was much more strategic, strictly mental, but completely dominating. She could prolong a climax to the point that release would be considered a sanctuary. Dipping her fingers into a canister, she allowed the sweet, smooth oil to glide down her finger and drip, drip, drip on the inside of each of his thighs. Slowly, hypnotically, she began a deliciously torturous massage above each knee. Bringing her fingers and thumbs together then back out again in small circles. Making her way up and around, until she finally reached his shaft. Licking her lips, Danielle could feel Freya's influence begin to take complete control. This was what she needed. Slowly she slid her lips over the top of him. Feeling his head throb with need of her touch. Gently, she slid her teeth over the length of him, dancing her tongue over the sensitive vein that she knew would drive him crazy. The sharp intake of breath and the soft moan that escaped his lips proved her right. She continued at this pace for a few more seconds, but to him it seemed like hours. After a few more strokes, she began making her way up his body. Kissing and licking, swirling her tongue around each nipple before biting gently. Finally, she lifted herself and slowly slid him into her warmth. The intensity of the day flowed back into her mind and she began taking it out on the body beneath her. Bucking her hips back and forth, faster and faster. She felt that familiar building inside at the pit of her stomach. Looking at the face beneath her, mouth open in an expression of pure ecstasy, she glanced at his brown eyes. Still moving up and down, grinding and flexing, she closed her eyes and instantly saw a deeper, more sensual set of eyes. A pair that she suddenly longed to see in this position beneath her, and with that vision in her mind she came. Squirting her sweet victory all over Jake's body before bringing her mouth back down to capture his release. Opening her eyes, she was brought back to reality. Freya tucked away again, now satisfied with her release. It wasn't Leo beside her, and suddenly she no longer wanted Jake in her home. She just wanted to be left alone with her thoughts. Leo lifted the strong liquor to his lips. He rarely drank, not since his fathers accident. But his mind would not stop reeling. Over and over, like a scratched record, he kept seeing those soft blue eyes. He wasn't sure what it was about this woman that called to him. Leo took a deep breath of the refreshing outside air as he let the wind push the swing back and forth at its own pace. The rain had dropped the temperature considerably, but it had also taken away the clouds and in its place left a crystal clear night sky. Each star seemed brighter than the one beside it, and as beautiful as each one seemed, none could compare to the woman Leo saw when he closed his eyes. Oh he had had women before, he could tell stories of a time when he had had a different woman for each season. Sex was a natural part of #life that he embraced. Leo just preferred to keep his business to himself. He didn't crave so much the secrecy, but instead the simplicity. Drama, and all that entails, was not something he was willing to put up with. With that thought coming to mind, he realized how un-simple his attraction for Danielle really was. He knew he shouldn't get involved with someone he worked with. But ignoring the pull he felt today when meeting Danielle would not be easy. Danielle had spent the weekend hidden away in her fortress. She had given Jill the weekend off so that she could truly be alone. She tried to spend a few hours planted in front of a canvas, brushing stroke after stroke of vibrant color from one end to the other. But once she was finished she found herself looking into a sea of green. When that didn't work, she decided to curl up in her favorite reading chair and delight in the dramatic tales of Edgar Allen Poe. But even the beating heart under the floor boards couldn't drag her thoughts away. So Sunday she had stayed in bed watching old Disney movies. It was the one thing she could get lost in. It had worked, until that night when she had drifted off to sleep, and there he came. This time she could see him clearly. His strong legs and firm solid build every inch of six feet tall, probably a few inches more, lingered over her body. But she could sense they were not alone, the other figure lingered close by, threatening. It inched closer with every agonizing breath she took. Leo looked back just as she called for him, the figure was so close she could feel its breath matching hers. She woke with a start. Her heart thumping in her chest, matching the speed of a hummingbird's wings. Looking at her clock she saw it read 5:30. Well, she might as well go ahead and start warming up. She could get a small run in before Jon got there and hopefully focus her mind. She didn't feel like rehashing this dream. Leo pulled up to the clinic at nine o'clock. He was a little early but truth be told he was hoping to catch at least one glimpse of her. The fishing he had done Saturday had only brought back a few memories of his dad. It had also made him wonder if she would appreciate the outdoors as much as he did. And playing with Brinley on Sunday didn't get his mind of the fact the the next day he would be in the same building as her. He had tried to play it cool, wearing is khaki pants and green patterned button down shirt. He didn't want it to look like he had spent thirty damn minutes just wondering whether or not she preferred blue or green. Making his way to the elevator, he pushed the number two and took the ride up. It was a small office, a very "mom and pop" kind of clinic. The sort of place where moms brought there daughters and so on and so forth. He had spoken to two of three nurses on staff, the third was on maternity leave for another four weeks. Mrs. Tanner had decided she would stay on for a couple more years. Only being 62 in age she didn't see the need in retiring just yet. Leo admired the passion of the old woman. She truly enjoyed her job. "Hey there handsome." Leo smiled at the soft, aged voice behind him. "Hello Mrs. Tanner, I was just thinking of you." "Oh you wicked man, teasing an old woman like that!" She giggled a cute, bubbly sound that made Leo's smile widen. The woman was infectious. "Haha, no teasing intended. How is Mr. Tanner? Did you two have a nice weekend?" "Oh we certainly did, thank you. My husband is ever the romantic, we had a moonlit dinner of peas, carrots, and meatloaf. And for dessert he made my favorite." "And what was that?" Leo asked curiously. "Well now, I would tell you, but I am not a woman to kiss and tell." She winked and let out another giggle, and Leo couldn't help the laugh that rumbled out of him. Around eleven, things started slowing down and by twelve, Leo had seen all of his scheduled appointments. "Go ahead and take lunch doll, I can hold down the fort until you get back." Mrs. Tanner said. "Alright, I'll be back in an hour." "Oh Leo, before you go can you run this file up to the third floor please? Dr. Stinner is expecting it." Leo's breath hitched, "Uh, Dr. Stinner?" "Yes, she's the shrink in the building. I usually direct my young mothers,or woman who are under a great deal of stress, to her. She's wonderful." Oh of that he had no doubt. "Sure, I don't mind." Leo stammered, hoping Mrs. Tanner didn't notice Trying to keep the tremble from his fingers, Leo pressed the button for the third floor. The hope of being able to simply pass the papers on to the receptionist were eliminated by the empty chair at the desk. Looking down the short hall, he saw that the door to the office was still open. Taking a deep breath Leo took the few strides and found himself in the door way of Danielle's office. Stepping inside, he couldn't help the pang of disappointment when he saw she wasn't there. He walked over to her desk in the corner, she would find the file when she got back. "Can I help you?" He heard the soft voice behind him, smooth as butter. He turned to see her standing in the door way. Her beautiful face twisted into an accusatory grim. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude. Mrs. Tanner wanted me to bring you this file." God she looked good today. Dressed in brown leggings; tan knee high, high heeled boots; and a white, long sleeved, loose dress. She had draped a purple scarf around her neck to tie it all in. So simple yet perfect on her luscious body. His eyes roamed down the length of her and back up again. He blinked and looked away quickly as if he hadn't meant for her to see. But she had seen. He looked breath taking today. She loved khaki pants on a man, not as much as faded jeans, but they definitely ranked second on her list. And the way Leo Odin filled out those khakis was enough to make her forget any man. Those shoulders couldn't have pressed that button down shirt to any farther limits, and he had rolled his sleeves up to quarter length. Just high enough she could catch a glimpse of his bulging forearms. Danielle found herself wondering if his chest was covered in hair the way it had been in her dream. 'Pull it together.' "Oh, you can just set them there thank you. I was about to head to lunch, will you tell her I'll take a look when I get back?" She was surprised she was able to keep the awe out of her voice. "Actually I was headed to lunch myself. Would you mind a little company?" Did he just invite himself to lunch? 'Come on Leo, you are not a desperate man.' "Sure, that would be nice." And she had meant it. She didn't like eating alone. "Well now, I would tell you, but I am not a woman to kiss and tell." She winked and gave another giggle and Leo couldn't help the laugh the rumbled behind her. not be easy. Danielle had spent the weekend locked away in her fortress. She had given

Freya Chapter One Slow, in and out, at a leisurely pace. Moving her hips in a way that would drive any man insane. She knew how to extend the pleasure to take a man higher than he had ever been before allowing him to fall into a climax. Driving him farther and farther into a spiral of divine orgasmic emotions. She had always been adored for her beauty, even as a child. But she knew beauty went much farther and ran much deeper than what sat on the surface. It had been four years since she had discovered her talents. Everything about her spoke to the libido of a man. And now at the age of 25, she was at her prime. The personality that dwelled within her fed on the sexual desire Danielle licked her lips, bringing herself back to the man before her. What was his name? John.. Joe.. She couldn't remember, she never used their names. It was too personal. She preferred pet names like "baby" or "dear". It wasn't her job to know them, only to feel. She gave a final thrust of her hips, and just as she knew he would, the man spilled himself upon her bare chest. She didn't do this for them. Sure they paid her an unruly amount of money for her dominatrix experience, but it was merely a part of who she was. What she was born to be. Walking naked and unashamed across the room to retrieve a towel, she could feel the nameless man's eyes following her. "Would you like to grab dinner some time?" He asked. She got men like this from time to time. Men who didn't fully understand the sex-for-sex's-sake rule of which she lived. Women like Danielle did not get attached. "You don't have to do that. You are under contract." She replied, not unkindly. Each lover she took was required to sign a "keep quiet" discloser. "So it's just sex then?" "I thought you understood that." "Well, then I suppose I will just see you at my next appointment." He sneered, straining the last word as if it were a bad taste in his mouth. "I suppose so." She said, distantly. After seeing her guest to the door, Danielle went into the large den to the left of the foyer. Once she had the wall to wall fireplace lit, she poured herself a double of Jack. Whiskey was her second weakness, she never drank beer and seldom had wine, but whiskey could handle her emotions. She had made a mess tonight. She didn't bother with the sheets or the clean up; Jill, the house cleaner, would take care of it in the morning. She always used one of the four downstairs bedrooms. Though no man was ever allowed to stay the night, each room was equipped with a large bed, Egyptian sheets, expensive oils and a few toys. However, she didn't really need them, they were mainly for the men's preference. The personality within her appealed to men and women alike. Her pheromones alone could appeal to even the most in denial of lesbians, though she preferred men. She couldn't compare to the wonder of the personality inside. The Norse Goddess, Freya, dwelled within her, she could feel her as intensely as she could feel the heat from the fire warming her body. Danielle had accepted what she was, compared to Freya she was someone of much lesser consequence. The goddess of love, among other things, but not the emotion of love. The verb love, the action itself. Swallowing down a sip of the amber liquid she glanced up to catch the eyes of the painting above the fireplace dancing with the flame. Uniquely enough the painting was of Freya, her eyes looking up towards the sky, her beautifully sculpted body propped upon her golden boar. The necklace of the dwarves lay so nonchalant with the curves of her neck. She wouldn't be satisfied for long. The lazy contentment that always followed a night of sex had already set in, but tomorrow would be another day. Although, Danielle did have rules of her own, and Freya did keep to them. She never kept more than one lover at the time. However, after tonight's comment, she knew Mr. No name's welcome had been worn thin. She didn't enjoy toying with someone's emotions, and when it got to that point, she let them go. Besides, Freya got bored quickly, which is why Danielle had not had any steady relationships. Danielle threw back the lingering remains of her drink and put the glass back in the cabinet of the wet bar. Crossing the large Persian rug she used the remote and turned off the fireplace, striding toward the stairs that lead to the east wing and her bedroom. Six AM came early and Jon would be there on the dot for her early morning training. A woman of her #lifestyle must remain in shape. Danielle's five foot three inch frame supported a flat stomach, defined arms, and the ass of only a grown woman. Her blonde hair that rested just below her shoulder blades and just above her C cups contrasted beautifully with her sea blue eyes. But none of those things were important. She didn't know what people saw when they looked at her. She didn't see beauty, she saw something much deeper. Freya and Danielle were two different people sharing one body, but not the same mind. Leo had been driving for hours. The ride to Alabama from Shreveport was a long one, and with a dead cell phone and a sleeping Brinley beside him, city lights would be a blessing. His brother had told him he was running. Part of him knew it was true, the other part protected his pride and told him a new start was what he needed. After the funeral, Leo didn't hesitate putting his house on the market. Apart from his brother Todd, his father was the only family he had left. Their mother had died of ovarian cancer his junior year of high school, that's what had made him become a gynecologist. And now, at 26, he had lost the best father in the world to a drunk driver. The crash had been gut wrenching, but what tore him apart the most was... No he couldn't think about it anymore. After the funeral Todd and his wife Kate had told him he could stay with them for a while. "It's not healthy to stay in that big house all alone at a time like this." Kate had cooed. "She's right Leo, the boys would love it if you stayed and so would we.." Todd knew using his nephews against him would at least get him to thinking, but Leo knew he had to get out. The heartache surrounding them was just too great. "I appreciate that guys, and I'm going to miss Luke and Brice, but I have to find something new. Besides, I'll be back for their birthday in a couple of months." The twins would never forgive him if he missed it. Todd had helped him pack and put his dad's things in storage. With a sad face, they had wished him luck and waved goodbye. Why he had chosen Alabama Leo couldn't quiet figure out himself. When he saw that a clinic in the small town of Dothan was hiring he couldn't ignore the pull he felt to just take the chance. One conference call later and he had the job, luckily they had given him two weeks to get settled before he started. Even after the heartache of losing his last living parent, Leo couldn't help but feel a little excited about starting anew. He had never done anything adventurous. Even in college he had lived at home to avoid the distraction of his peers. Not that that had stopped any of the females from trying to distract him. It was no secrete that Leo was a handsome man, and that often made him wonder if that was the only thing women saw. That, and a fat wallet. Regardless, now he would be going somewhere he was not known nor sought after, and that was refreshing. After stopping for some coffee and one more look at the map, Leo whistled Brinley back into the truck. The chocolate lab sprinted from his spot in the grass and climbed back inside. The only woman Leo could trust it seemed was that dog. He knew she was getting up there in age and needed somewhere to play and be lazy, which is why he had chosen the house in the meadow. When he first found the 1920's home on line he had thought it a little over priced, even with 20 acres, but after taking a look he discovered the charm of the house was well worth the money. It sat two stories high with a full wrap around porch, four bedrooms each with their own fireplace, and as if the 3800 square footage was not wondrous enough, it had a flowing river just 3 acres back. It was the perfect home and get away. And if his mapping skills were correct, he would be there by morning. "Breath Danielle! You are not breathing!" Jon shouted above the blaring music of Drowning Pool. Danielle punched the bag again swiftly, breathing in and out deeply as she was told. She was distant today, not focused. With one more jab and a swift round house, she dropped her fists and made the cut throat motion signaling she needed a break. "You're not in it today." Jon said with his thick Kenyan accent. The tall black man before her was every bit muscle. "I know, my head is somewhere else, I didn't sleep well last night." "She seems more restless than usual, she must know something you do not." Jon was the only person who knew of Freya, he had heard of such things from his grandmother. Stories of Gods getting restless and using mortals as cloaks to the outside world.o "I don't know, I kept dreaming, seeing faces. But I don't know who they are or what the dream meant." Danielle replied. "Sometimes we are given pieces of a vision so as to prepare for what is to come, but not change what will be. Come, let's finish your workout. It's 7:30, you'll have to leave for work soon." After showering, Danielle had her usual coffee and strawberries. Her father had never understood her strange taste in food. He had always said she got it from her mother. Smiling at the thought of her father, Danielle made a mental note to invite him for dinner. Making her way back into the master suite of the east wing, she quickly picked out her clothes and began finishing her makeup. She never wore much, just a little powder and eyeliner. With eyelashes that nearly touched her brows, mascara seemed a moot point, but she used it anyway. After drying her hair and lathering in her favorite lotion, she turned to change into her work clothes. She always dressed in the bedroom, away from mirrors. Danielle hated seeing her body, for her it was a constant reminder. After sliding up the pencil skirt and tucking in the light blue silk shirt, she went to the closet to pick out a necklace. Never wearing too much jewelry; a ring from her father on her right hand, a watch on her left, and simple earrings in her double pierced ears; Danielle was always sure to wear a necklace. To others, the birthmark around her neck would appear to be just that, but she knew it was the legendary necklace of Freya. The token that had become a symbol. Something else to remind Danielle of what she was. Picking out a simple silver chain with a diamond stud and grabbing her black pumps, she quickly ran to the mirror, slid on her shoes and clasped the necklace before giving her hair one more fluff and turning off the lights. Dothan traffic was miserable, as it usually was. But even with the backed up traffic she wouldn't be late, she would be just in time. She always was. Danielle had never understood the logic of arriving five minutes early. A time was given for a purpose, that was when something was meant to start. No sooner and no later. She stressed that in her business. After taking the curves of the back roads like a pro in her black charger, she smiled when she saw the vacant parking spot right in front of the clinic building. Danielle sincerely loved her job. If she couldn't do anything about herself, she could at least empower others. The psychology degree that hung on the wall behind her desk was her pride and joy. Having a Ph.D. at the age of 25 was certainly something to be proud of. Turning off the ignition and grabbing her purse, Danielle caught herself wondering who was going to replace the doctor she shared the building with. The partnership between the older couple had been heart warming, both doctors of gynecology and both madly in love. But at the ripe old age of 70, Mr. Walter Tanner had decided to retire. Mrs. Tanner surely wouldn't continue to work without her husband by her side, and with no children to leave the family clinic to they would have to hire from outside. The couple had been wonderful to Danielle, Mrs. Tanner always going out of her way to be motherly. She was really going to miss seeing them every day at their usual lunch. Arriving on the third floor, Danielle greeted Tanya, her receptionist, with a warm smile. "I put an updated copy of your appointments for the day on your desk Ms. Stinner." She replied with an equally warm smile of her own. "Thank you Tanya, did you have a pleasant weekend?" "If you call chasing a two year old pleasant while his dad watches tv, then yes, I guess I did." With a laugh and wink, Tanya turned back to her computer. A small pang of jealousy pinched at Danielle. She wanted children, but she wanted a husband first. Both of which Freya was not ready for just yet. Walking back towards her office, her mind began to drift. Back to the dream of the night before and the faces that had danced without names before her. Seemingly taunting her to discover them. One was of a beautiful man, with a tousle of dark blond hair that begged for her fingers attention. Looking at her, almost into her, he possessed the most astonishing green eyes, with flecks of brown that didn't take away but instead seemed to enhance the wondrous color. Those eyes. Aside from color that drew her in, the kindness and genuine understanding the lay just beneath them had pulled to her in a way she didn't understand. That face she could have looked upon for ever and never see all the wonders of it. The other face had been something else entirely. Not even really a face, but more of mirage of something that frightened her. It had no eyes but was somehow able to see inside her. Looking at her from within. That was something she dared not even try, but to have someone, or something, else try it had been fear she wasn't prepared to deal with. Making it to her office she shook her head in an attempt to focus her thoughts and began reading over her appointments for the day. Four days had passed, and Leo had finally gotten everything put away. What the photographs of the house hadn't shown was the two inch layer of dust that had settled on every piece of furniture. But now, after two days of dusting and keeping the double French doors to the back of the house open, along with nearly every window, he could finally breath in fresh air. Making use of the large chef style kitchen, he decided on subs for dinner. Leo opened the clear doored refrigerator that had came in early that day and reached for the ham, mustard, bacon and pickles. He had considered hiring someone as a full time live in help, but truthfully he liked the secludedness of his new home. After frying the bacon and loading his bread with the rest of the trimmings, he called for Brinley. Sliding from her cozy place by the fire in the den, she obediently tromped into the kitchen. "Hey girl." Leo cooed with a smile. Dipping her head she walked over to his outstretched hand and gave a small whimper. "You know the rules, sit first then treat." Immediately Brinley sat on the floor, dropping her tongue to the side of her mouth as she tilted her head. "Good girl!" He laughed and gave her the bribe of the bacon. Tomorrow he would have to leave her alone to go into the office. He wanted to get acquainted with his new patient's files before actually starting next week. The Tanners had graciously insisted he take the full two weeks to get settled in, but as much as he liked his secluded home, Leo hated not working. Of course he had had plenty to keep him busy over the past few days, but now there wasn't much left. What painting ideas he had for the bedrooms could be finished over the weekend, leaving the next week a blank canvas. He smiled as he thought of the conversation he had with his nephew Brice earlier that day. "Uncle Leo you aren't gonna miss the party are you?" The seven year old had asked innocently. "Of course not pal, I wouldn't miss that for the world. Still a baseball theme?" "Well mine is, Luke wants basketball." He replied, as if it were the most ridiculous thing he had ever heard. With a chuckle, Leo said "Luke has always preferred basketball to baseball. I guess that's one way we can tell you guys apart." That got a little boys giggle out of Brice before he handed the phone back to his father. "How are you doing way out there?" He asked, a hint of worry in his tone. "I'm fine Todd, really, I'm healing. The house is even more beautiful than I thought." He said, encouragingly, with an attempt to lighten the mood. He knew his brother was concerned. "Well that's wonderful, I hope that this helps you catch whatever is chasing you. You know we love you. Don't forget, March twenty-second. We're gonna do the party here at the house." Leo agreed and confirmed once more that he wouldn't miss it. After exchanging a few more brief words, they had both hung up and Leo sat in the chair on his front porch watching the sun go down. It had been a very pleasant sunset. The ringing of his alarm woke Leo at 7:45 the next morning. The glory of yesterday's sun with its orange beams would've been a pleasantry to the heavy grey clouds that now covered the sky. After showering and dressing quickly and simple faded jeans and blue t-shirt, Leo ran a hand through his dark blond hair, tousling it over his fingers. With a swipe of deodorant and a dash of his favorite cologne, he was ready to go. Usually he would have his breakfast of six eggs and half a bowl of oatmeal, but with the bad weather rolling in he wanted to hurry and get finished in town. Brinley met him at the door, her practiced "please don't go" face perfectly in tact. With a scratch behind her ear, Leo gave her a sympathetic smile and opened the door to the garage, leaving her in the house. He climbed into his white Chevy and pulled out. The sooner he left the sooner he could get home before the storm. Dothan was a pretty easy town to learn. He had made it a point to map out where everything was the day he had gotten to the house. He knew there would be backed up traffic on a Friday, but he was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't as bad as he had thought. He managed to go to the hardware store on the circle and be in and out by lunch. Stopping by the Red Elephant, he grabbed a quick and delicious lunch before heading over to the clinic. She felt funny today. Last night making four days she had been without sex, she knew Freya would be feeling restless, but this was something different. She felt...anxious. As if something astronomical was meant to take place. The dreams from earlier in the week had continued. Each night revealing a little more. Last night it had gotten her really hot and bothered. It had started out the way it usually does, focusing first on those gorgeous eyes reflecting off that tousled blond hair. And then it had gone lower. Soft lips, swollen from a bruising kiss, had been perfectly framed by two dimples, one on each soft cheek. A strong chin lead down to a thick, muscular neck which held two broad shoulders and extending arms defined with strands of muscle. As appealing as all of those things had been, his chest had been what called to her body. That wide chest the moved softly with the waves of his breath. The matted hair that sprouted in the middle and spanned out, begging for her fingers to tangle themselves there in the comfort of his body right next to his heart. Her toes began to curl and she shook her head bringing herself back to the here and now. Glancing at the clock she realized she had not had any lunch. Sliding her shoes back on and adjusting the slim red dress as she stood, Danielle knew she needed to get the thoughts of the beautiful green eyed man out of her head. It wasn't healthy to fantasize about a man who didn't exist. Waiting for the elevator to bring her to the last floor, Danielle reached in her purse for her keys. She heard the ding informing her she had landed. Looking up, her gaze landed upon a tousle of dark blond hair and two deep, beautiful green eyes. mind and heart that were hers, only her body and womanhood belonged to the fair Freya.
