Strong Hope
Chapter 1
My #life started in a cold hospital room in Raleigh Springs, Georgia. My mom, Dennie was giving birth to a girl named Lessie. That's me. That's how it all began. My whole #life.
I remember my elementary school. Elwood Elementary. It was close to home. I loved that. My dad, Sal, would come pick me up after school. Mom dropped me off.
Middle school wasn't that great. Many cliques were formed in the beginning. I went to Walkwaters Middle.
These girls, Hanna Hays, Leslie Moore and Sienna Walkwaters bullied me. A lot! Sienna Walkwaters was the Superintendent's daughter. Yay me.
Any time I would try to defend myself, I got the threat of expolsion. But my best friend got me through it. Ali Love. She was great.
Then came high school. We had moved in July to South Carolina. I went to Lakeside High. It was different. I had a close accent to theirs. But mine was slightly more southern.
"Hi Miss Lessie. My name is Principal Keller." A woman told me.
"Hi." I replied. I didn't know what to say.
"Lessie Hart?" She asked. "Is that your name?" I nodded yes. "Wonderful. Down the hall first door to the left. That is your first class. Mr. James will explain to you the inner work of the school."
I had a good high school #life good friends. Not too many bullies. I also got straight A's with a B+ in History. I'm not good at History.
College. That's where I am now. I'm at the SCCC. South Carolina Community College. But, not currently. I'm in the hospital right now. This is what happened.
I met a guy in my class. His name was Danny Luke. He had asked me to dinner and I agreed.
"I'd like the smoked salmon with a side of Caesar salad. No onions. Extra carrots." I said. That's my two favorite foods.
"I'll take the grilled chicken with a side of roasted potatoes." He said. I thought everything was going great.
He politely walked me home. I was at my door.
"Lessie. I wanted to do this all night." He said.
'Proposal maybe?' I thought. I turned around.
He had a paper. Folded in his hand. He showed it to me. "Disney World. Go. Go with your family. Expenses are already paid." He said. That week, we were to leave for Florida. In a car!
I am in the hospital now. As I have told you. Last week we got home from Disney.
My mom's foot was broken at Disney because she tripped on the way to a ride. Playing Cake Crush.
Her foot will be better in about a month. She'll have to wear a boot though.
