Okoboji The water sways back and forth, onto the rocky shore. Shining waters reflect the suns light, showing a vision from fantasy and lore. Although a creaking dock below me, and a burn upon my chest- It is here and now that I find so much rest. Streaming sun-rays beat down on my now sun kissed skin, It is moments like these that I don't need aspirin. The pain melts away Startled by the happiness is play. How can I hope for any more? For if I had this I most certainly could be poor. Close my eyes, You close yours two, Oh lake Okoboji- I love you. #favouriteplace

Mask My face is hidden, The things you see unreal. Many things I have written, But non truly reveal. Without feeling I can stare, Showing you nothing. How can I know if you care, For I am not that cunning My heart has turned hard; My ears deaf from the yelling. I have played all my cards; My story is not for telling. Pretend I can, Be something I am not. For I am only human, And can never fully give you what you want. My face may look happy, Sad or excited. Inside though, under that sappy, Nothing is ignited. I'll be what you want, A puppet on strings. But don't waste your chant, You can't control me completely. Don't imagine at all That you know who I am. I wear too many faces, Like many mirrors down a hall. Hard and cold, Hiding the truth. Now you know what you do behold. A mask covers my face, The scars and the doubts.
