The Awkward Moment... The awkward moment when you're looking around and catch eye contact with someone else who is looking around and you both look away, then both look back to make sure the other person isn't still looking at you and you catch eye contact again, and then you start to feel really paranoid thinking about why the person is looking at you even though they're just looking at you to make sure that you're not looking at them...

The PANE part 2 Hyde Park. That's where Freddie and his school friends would go on saturday evenings to play soccer. Admittedly, he wasn't very good at it, and he was the only one who didn't play for the school team, but he still enjoyed it. It was also a chance to escape the freakish but extremely short fits he has been having. At least, they seemed like fits. Freddie had no medical problems, as far as he was aware. He's had two 'white-outs' now, and he still doesn't understand what they are and why they're happening. Of course he hasn't told his parents or his friends yet, and that should be the case for at least a while. Thinking about the situation, staring into nothingness, the ball arrived at Freddie's feet. "Yes, Freddie, over here!" He suddenly snapped back to reality, and kicked the ball up in the air to his friend Carl, a very outgoing and at times, friendly boy, but was sometimes a bit too arrogant - he was very much the 'leader' of their group of friends. He jokingly caught it in his hands, said "You want it? Come get it!", and he started to run away. It wasn't soccer any more - it was American Football. All the boys ran after him, but he dodged and weaved incoming tackles. Even Bruce, the boy in the year above, missed his tackle and fell to the grassy ground like a sack of iron weights. After about ten minutes, they fell to the ground exhausted. Freddie panted deeply, sat down and then buried his head in the grass and spread out his limbs like a starfish. He blinked. White light surged into his pupils, but it was the calmer, less intense light like before. The sight fizzed, flashed and turned back to the familiar whitish sepia picture. Like when this happened in his bathroom, a cartoony black silhouette appeared in the distance, but it was followed by a couple more. They apparently started to run towards the white view that Freddie was seeing, and the view seemed to shake. It was as if his eyes were seeing this in real #life; but how could they? His head was face down in the ground. The view from what he was seeing span around and simmered until it was gone. Still breathing deeply, Freddie sat up. This thing had happened again. His friends were also sat up, already taking. "Nice of you to join us", commented Bruce towards Freddie. Bruce was unusually fast and witty to make a joking remark, usually, he would be left in confusion due to his appalling sense of humour. The group sniggered and continued to talk about an upcoming soccer match at school. Freddie splayed his hands out behind him and rested on them, staring at the sky. He really started to wonder why this kept happening. He knew it wasn't a strong source of light that triggered what ever it was because he looked at the sun before and nothing happened - so what was happening. The group got up and Freddie followed. They picked up the ball, their bags and headed to the exit of the park. Five figures suddenly appeared around the gate of the park, all wearing black t-shirts and three quarter length denim jeans. It was Carl's older brother and his mates. Carl didn't like his brother one bit, and his brother vice versa. He was always in trouble with the police, and he walked around the village with his friends like a gang. Well, they were certainly as intimidating as a gang. A rock narrowly missed Freddie's head. He heard a voice from one of Carl's brother's mates - "Get 'em!" Panic struck the group. The group of black t-shirts ran towards Freddie, Carl an the other boys. They looked at each other, and sprinted the other way. Chills shot up Freddie's spine, and his heart started to pump as if it were a machine gun. Another rush of deja vu hit him as him and his friends ran towards an opening in a bush on the other side of the park. Freddie heard Carl mutter "I can't believe it", as they ran through the bush, leaped over the river on the other side, joined the pavement and ran flat out up the road. It wasn't long until Freddie was outside his house. There was no time for communication. He opened the gate to his garden, flew in, locked it and sprawled out on the steps up to the house. His mind was like a pinball machine, but Freddie thought back to the 'white-out'. What just happened then was like what happened in the thing he saw in the park. He thought to himself. What was it, and why has it happened again?

The PANE part 1 What is it like to be able to see things other people can't? Well, to tell the truth, it's hard to say. One person can though - Freddy José; he is a normal fifteen year old; normal friends; normal parents, his mother is Mexican and his father is English, he goes to a normal school. He's just a normal teenager. Well, when I say normal, it isn't entirely true. The morning of his fourteenth birthday. Freddy opened his eyes, but didn't rush downstairs to see his presents; he was too old for that. It was a Saturday, so he could close his eyes again. Before he could get to sleep again, his three year old brother ran into the room shouting "Get up Freddie, get up!" After about two minutes of constant ear ache, he slowly slithered out of bed, slipped his dressing gown on and stepped into his slippers. Following his keen brother down the stairs, he made himself a bowl of cereal, and didn't even notice his presents in the extension. His brother was too busy playing in the lounge to care about those. As he cleared the table, his mum came downstairs and the patronising begun, followed by kisses, hugs and overall annoying praise for 'growing up so fast'. He sat down to open everything and his brother came through and started kicking the wrapping paper around. Freddie didn't expect much. Ever since his father died, birthdays hadn't really been so special. Since his mother had to look after Freddie's brother whilst he was at school, they had to live off benefits. He unwrapped two jumpers from his grandma and mother and an expensive silver watch. Presents like these came very rarely, but his mother thought it was time to get something Freddie keep with sentimental value. Fairly grateful, he walked up the stairs and switched on the light to the bathroom. A sudden burst of white light hit his eyes and, squinting whilst closing the door behind him, he closed his eyes and looked around in sheer panic. His heart started thudding, but as soon as it started, it stopped. He looked down at the pale marbled floor. He frowned and walked to the mirror, checking his eyes just out of curiosity. They were blue as per usual, yes nothing had changed. He looked down at the sink, coughed heavily and looked up again at the mirror. He blinked; suddenly the white light appeared again, but not as intense - he could see, but only vaguely. Looking around, he could make out the bath, shower and toilet, but the mirror didn't look the same. It started to crackle like an old sepia film and the next moment took him aback. What looked like a moving image of a person moved along the mirror, but seemingly fell over. It then got up and travelled off the side, gone. Normal sight returned, but Freddie didn't feel normal at all. Walking into his bedroom, he opened his curtains and opened the window ajar. He looked at the sun for a millisecond to see if it would trigger this thing again, but nothing happened. Looking over his fence and down the road, he noticed someone in a red jacket on their bike, it was Tom Riddles. He was in the year below Freddie and they knew each other quite well. Tom then fell off of his bike whilst cycling around a corner and hurdled the curb with his head. He then got up, dusted himself off, picked up his bike and cycled towards the local grocery shop. Although the boy falling over provoked a laugh from Freddie, he got a quick rush of deja vu. Shaking his head, he shrugged away any thoughts and got dressed, trying to forget about what had just happened.

Can't beat that play (unless you're shakespeare. In which case you can bet anything while helping the sleep patterns of a nation in one go!)
