 City Streets  I walk this city in the rain, Wishing I was home again. Back to folk I know so well, There again I dream to dwell. Where once I watched the grazing sheep, In the valleys, sunlit deep, Saw the farmers making hay, Rubbing brows from heat of day. I think I smell the homemade bread, The taste of which I loved so well, The people poor but living rich, Mothers sewing love in every stitch. But here I walk these city streets, Not knowing one that I meet, Loneliness digs so deep, Memories now are all I keep.  #fiction

Live It Like The Weekend Live it like the weekend, That's what she said to me, Liveitliketheweekend, Meant all the world to me. We met right here on Opuss, Our feelings grew so strong, But somewhere down loves highway, Everything, well, just went wrong. She'd write to me the sweetest verse, She hugged and kissed all me, And said she'd like to spend her #life, Alone just here with me. This quick romance had startled me, I didn't know what to do, She said, what's your answer boy, But sure I didn't have a clue. One needs to think things over, Only fools rush into wed, And many years are needed, Before you make your bed. The lovely #poems she wrote me, Got fewer by the day, With her pretty please unanswered, We went our separate ways. But courting a mother lioness! Isn't very hot, I thought of all the friends I had, They'd stare at me a lot! Be that may, There's this I'll say, She still sits in my mind, And I think that somewhere out there, She's right on here online!! I do still think about her, And what's she's doing now, I wonder if she's happy, Or has sorrow touched her brow. And what will she be doing, Many years away from now, Still writing words of wisdom, Or taking marriage vows? All-Hallows Fright I walked All-Hallows in the night, The#moonwas shining clear and bright, My heart was pounding in my chest, But this was not the time to rest. A witch was riding on her broom, Her cauldron would be ready soon. Dracula's blood count was getting low, No wonder he is on the go. The wolfman howls up at the moon, A silver bullet would seal his doom. Frankenstein's monster is nuts and bolts, All charged up with a million volts. Quasimodo rings a bell, Reminding all that all's not well. I hurry on now homeward bound, Tis not a night to be around, Hearing all those eerie sounds; I'll jump into bed and cover up, And hope that they will get me not. #HappyHalloween #Halloween

 The Poltergeist  This Hallowe'en sure, Got off to a bang, The mirror cracked, And the toilet bowl sang. The floorboards cracked, And the cutlery flew, What was going on? Why, nobody knew. The big children cried, They couldn't sleep, The clothes on the bed, Began to leap. The baby laughed, And thought it a joke, As the TV switched on, Without a remote. "Hold your tongues", Someone said, It could be a spirit, Back from the dead. The cat meowed, With a big grin, Thought it was fun, And wondered who'd sinned. The dog barked loudly, At the noises it heard, And thought to itself, "I'm away in the head". No-one noticed, The clock in the hall, But it quickly struck twelve, Then fell off the wall. A doorbell did ring, But how could that be, There wasn't one there, Only a knocker you see. "Phone the police", The daddy said, As he hid with a towel, Covering his head. "Don't be mad", The mummy replied, "They couldn't do nothing", And then she cried. Phone the preacher, Everyone agreed, Sure they're the answer, To everyone's needs. Soon a preacher, With Bible in hand, Said this was a crisis, And one must make a stand. Then after a prayer, They said to this louse, Away with you, And get out of this house. So everything's quiet, It's time to move on, Everyone's happy, Now the poltergeist's gone. 
