The Capital Of Persistence- Chapter 1 Disappointment. One of the main aspects I bring out in people. Embarrassment, the second aspect and finally frustration. Those are the main three. And I can see them written all over my father's face. For a man made out of stone he sure does know how to make me crumble just by reading his emotions. "Jason," He speaks rather quietly, only for the reason to make me focus on him and only him. For God knows if I miss one word that slips out of his mouth, the suffering I will soon receive in a matter of minutes will multiply rapidly. "Yes sir." I pronounce making sure to look him right in the pupils. Father has always favoured good eye contact when being spoken to. "Who is your father Jason?" He says tilting his head ever so slightly. His questioning eyes burning into my orculus. "You are father." I say unable to stand still for a minute longer, so I release my hands that have been gripping onto each other for dear #life behind my back. "And what is my name?" He asked imitating my actions and also releasing his hands from his back "Marshall David Warner owner of Warners Incorporated, the worlds leading British oil company. Which Nicholas David Warner, one of the Warner family's great descendants was the finder of." I say with no hesitation, no emotion just mercerised from the heart. "Good and who will be passed down the responsibility of the company after me?" He asked "I will father" I say, but this time with no eye contact "Do you know what a weak link is son?" Rhetorical question I figured, "You know that domino game some people play when they line the dominos up and hope for one to not wobbly and tumble down their hard work. Well my son that domino that wobbles and tumbles down the dominos behind it is the weak link that has also put the effort the previous dominos have made to stand tall and not tumble down to no use." He finishes "Father,"I started but was interrupted. "You will NOT be the weak link," he starts, putting emphasis on the word not,"neither will you put all the work this family has put up to keep this company going to waste. The weak link will not be of my spawn. You will not embarrass this family, you will not embarrass me." He finishes, his face still red and he's panting from the fast pace he's been speaking in. "No son of mine is going to be a basketball player how dare you even ask such a question." I am starting to feel that waft of fear come over me. "You are to give me your car keys, you are not to step foot outside of this house unless I say so. You are to spend five hours studying a day instead of two in fact you must start today, meaning you can't come down to dinner. Lucinder will bring your food up to you. This process will continue until I give it permission to stop do you understand?" "Yes father," I say rather timidly "You may leave my sight," he says giving me a slight nod I reach into my pocket and pull out my car keys I hand them to him then stride towards the door. Just before I reach for the handle. "Jason." Slowly I turn on my heel to meet his intensified eyes and creased eyebrows "Try, just try and make me proud son." (Haven't finished this chapter yet still more to come)
