First Fight It's amazing how quickly, When one cares enough, The heart starts to panic, If things start to get tough. From just this weekend, When we seemed just as one, Then this morning I woke, To find you had gone. I know it's just a small hurdle, That we'll quickly pass. Just a bump in the road, To stop us moving too fast. But now I'll be honest, You had me quite scared. For our first little fight, I was quite unprepared. They Lie In Wait I find myself Far too often Alone It is a dangerous place Where thoughts, Uninvited And uncharacteristically violent, Rear their vicious heads. With friends around, Those same thoughts hold no terror, No hostility. They lie in wait, until, When left alone, I can be surrounded. It is now they bite, With no pattern or rhythm, A maddeningly random attack, Striking, poisoning. The venom takes grip, I am forbidden from hope, And I see darkness In every picture in my mind. My chest tightens. I curl, Knowing, once again, The only respite is sleep, If only I could sleep.

Last Tuesday She wept, one night. For nothing And for everything. Each trembling tear Another thought A lost moment A flicker of regret. Shaking, alone, Raging chaos Paling into exhaustion. She wept, But it's over for now.
