The Watcher The Watcher brought the binoculars up to his eyes. Through the lenses, despite the darkness and fog, he could see the flaking paint of the house and the rotten window frames. The lond bone-like fingers of the ivy engulfed the majority of it. All but one of the windows was shattered and all of their frames looked like they might break any minute. The fog grew thicker, so the Watcher had to come a little closer to observe the house. It was hard to find what he was looking for when the ivy had engulfed most the house. His eyes begun to prick and a tear rolled down the curve of his cheek. The poor house, abandoned, left to die. This house once held happy memories of a mother and father and a baby. The Watcher can't go back to that night. It was not his fault but the fault of the mother, Bethany. She betrayed the Watcher. She is a traitor to mankind. The survival of humans relyed on the Watcher. He turned around and began walking from this desperate place. He must try again tomorrow night. The fog grew thicker and thicker, so thick he found it difficult to see his feet. He turned around to see the house one last time, but the fog had swallowed it all. As he was walking, he heard a slam of a car door. Then the rumble of it's engine as it left. The Watcher's eyes instantly widened and he began shaking. Is this it? Could this be the end of mankind? He ran as quickly as his legs could bare, back the house, but this time right up to it. He found a bit of wall not engulfed in ivy. Carefully, a flake of paint was pulled from it. The Watcher pulled out a torch. The paint had changed. The house was now red. It has begun.
