Husband At War, When Will You Return.
Tonight I rest and lay my head,
It's dark and lonely, here in my bed
I toss and turn,
Can't sleep at night,
Searching for my hero to hold him tight,
Lost in the covers, a feeling unknown
a space here is empty, and I am alone.
In seven months time,
You'll be back by my side,
Im waiting here patiently,
With my arms open wide.
My love for you is ever growing.
When will I see you again- I hate not knowing,
For now I lay, thinking of you;
Wishing it was a month or two,
The days go by, the nights get colder,
Why aren't you here, I need your shoulder.
So silly, I know- my hero's at war,
But I want you here, in my arms once more.
For soon I leave and join you too,
With a different batallion, far far away from you.
When the wheels touch the ground, we'll be home at last,
and we'll talk about the things we've done in the past.
It's moments like these, I'd wait forever.
As long as it means we get some time together.
Not long will pass and a house we get,
Is this something we'll later regret.
We'll argue and argue till our faces turn blue,
But this doesn't matter because I love you.
The decor will go the way I prefer,
And you'll sit there drinking your favourite liqueur.
A Siberian husky is my wanted dog,
We'll walk him together through the thickest of fog,
You'll be persuaded to pick up his poo,
Cause there ain't no way, that I'd do that too.
But for now we wait,
In this emotional state.
How long is seven months going to be?
Hurry, go quick- I just want you and me.
Without a doubt I know we'll go far,
As you really are my shining star.
I feel so alone and it's you that I miss,
Oh what I'd do for a single kiss.
Just to let you know I won't go astray,
I'm here for #life, we'll go the whole way.
I'm in your heart and never too far,
I fell in love for who you are,
Rubbish jokes and humour- I won't amend,
You really are my true best friend.
At the altar I promised you #life,
So I wrote this #poem as your wife.
