Dark Shadows
My eyes snapped wide open at the sound of my creaking door. I could feel it… I could feel them. They were back.
“I’m scared.” I silently whispered into the air as my heart began racing. No matter how hard I tried to tell myself these were just dreams. I knew deep down that they weren’t. This was reality. My reality. Every attempt I made to force myself to fall back asleep failed. I tried not to make one little sound, but the beating of my heart was so loud. I knew they could hear it.
I could feel them all around me at that point. Their stares were burning holes into me. Then I felt myself being levitated out of my bed. The moonlight was shining through my window as I saw my white sheets slowly falling off. I looked around and saw them. The dark shadows. They dropped me and I took off running towards my parents room. Warm air began rushing past me. I didn’t get far before they started dragging me back.
“Mom, help me!!” but no one could hear me. My silent screams filled the air, and then everything turned black.
