Can't tell when it would end, couldn't recall when it began. Chapter 1. Guitar and death. The air was humid and sour as she made her way down the street, it was may 25th, the date meant nothing special to her but she felt like it should. She had just spent hours reading through 1Q84, the world with little people and two moons, she liked how the author described and narrated everything in a cool, logical tone. Every time she finished a book she would sit down and write, the tone of the book would linger. She was afraid of dying, and that fear of death made her existence even more terrifying, it was like a black hole pulling her in and the emptiness would go on forever. But right now the world was loud and crowded, she wondered why is it that people had to talk so much, pounding words into her ears, words all tangled together and so high pitched that it made her grimace. She had decided a week ago that if things got better she would want a guitar for her birthday, and she had found one, a folk guitar, made out of a light colored wood with some patterns painted onto it. The shop keeper had recommended classical guitars for beginners, and indeed it was easier on her fingers, but she always opted for the cheaper choice and so far that was the "Mingyao" guitar, with the shop keeper's help she finally knew what "folk" was in Chinese. If things didn't get better, she decided she wanted to die, to be more precise she wanted the courage to die, because fear can always erase whatever desire or sense you have left. But yet she knew she wouldn't do it, she was hoping to force things to change by giving a deadline, to whom she did not know, God? Fate? Chance? Whoever was responsible for starting everything, and it did seem pretty funny to threaten something so powerful with her death to change her #life. A group of gamblers gathered under a tree, shouting and laughing enthusiastically while seeking refuge from the sun, a policeman patrolled lazily in another direction. It was one of things that changed since she got here, there were policemen everywhere, at every bus stop, major shopping malls, even each fast-food restaurant had it's own police. "Maybe it's a communist thing" she thought to herself, and it pressured her. But she found the convenience of it, there was always someone to ask for directions, and she felt safer when going home. It stayed hot all day and the people started pouring in after noon. Her mother called and together they picked out a guitar that costed 263 yuan, ridding her threat and reason to die. May 25, she knew now why it was special (to be continued) I had to take a break from writing windows and plan it out, so this is a new story that I started! It will be less puzzling and setted in the modern world will slowly update both

Windows Chapter 2: Sight Chapter 2. Sight 1. When she woke up he was gone, not meaning he's never coming back, just that he was simply not there. The sun made the dust in the air sparkle, she watched them float for a while, also in the air little traces of dampness, the only link back to yesterday, but she cared not to reach for them. The bowl of glass disappeared. She stood up lazily, the wooden floor felt warm, something was different. She looked back at the sparkling dust, it was the dust, she could see them. They drifted past her as she made her way to the kitchen. Outside the window were rooftops with mucky puddles, all rusted and weathered down by the rain. Everything was alarmingly sharp, she took each step carefully, there was too much to focus on, it made her balance waver. The kitchen was also full of dust, they danced away from her arm as she reached out for the chair. The moment she lay her hands on the wooden chair dizziness truck, accompanied by strong whispers. She struggled to remain standing, her eyes wide with panic. The blurriness ate up her vision bit by bit till the chair became blocks of color and the little lights vanished. When she regained her balance, all was back to normal, but no longer enough. 2. He rested as he waited for her breathing to slow down. He entered the room quietly and picked up the bowl of glass, they are, in a way, a collection. He collected them one by one , but he knew well from the start that they were not rightfully his, nor will keeping them all in a bowl give him a sense of satisfaction. The girl was finally asleep, her steady breathing drowned out by the sound of tapping rain. She slept very still, "like a corpse" he thought to himself, the word triggered an unpleasant memory that he no longer had strength to recall. The elevator came to a halt, the man opened his black umbrella. He took a step forward and instantly loud thuds of rain beating on plastic surrounded him. He disliked it, in fact he loathed it: the rain, the ignorant blind who wandered here, and the falling...especially the falling. "It's amazing" he realized as he joined the blind in their walk, "how capable we are at living."

I really like this, it has a Matrix feel about it. The only things are I am still a little confused about what the shadows and blind people are. I know he explained it to her but... It's not clear on my mind! Great stuff though!! Love you to read mine and see what you think!?

Windows Chapter 1: Then Man, The Girl And The Shadows (3) 1. He showed her to his room, it was simple and small, shabby but seemingly clean. There was nothing else apart from a single bed, and oddly, a bowl full of shattered glass. "you can stay here from now on" the man said She looked at him questionably "and you?" she asked he gestured towards the kitchen chair. "I don't sleep much" the ghosts await him there. She looked back towards the bowl of glass, the man caught her glimpse and started to head out. "I'll answer questions tomorrow" he said before she could ask further, "do you want the door open?" She shook her head, the door shut closed. What was to emerge as shadow became utter darkness.

Windows Chapter 1: The Man, The Girl And The Shadows(2) 1. He asked no more, they listened to the rustling sounds of moving fabric and tapping rain, the air was thick with moisture. "You can see me" she said quietly without turning to him, from the corner of her eyes she saw him nod, "there are others" he said, "but ground level is not a place for us". The star darkened above them, hinting the approach of evening, street lights sprung to #life as soon as they sensed the change. The man became alerted, "come now" he said quickly and held out his hand, "we must leave before the shadows awake". She very much wanted to ask about shadows: what were they? Why were they to be avoided? Did they only exist on the ground floor? And most importantly...why is she on the ground floor? Who was she? All she could remember was her endless wait and bits of colours from her past. Then she saw them rising, the shadows casted out by lights, they rose up to the blind, whispering fiercely into their ears, shaking their limbs and scratching their clothes as if trying to wake a heavy sleeper. She turned to look at the man who eyed the shadows with disgust, his grip on her wrist caused her pain, but the shadows took her complaint away and she tried hard to catch up with him. They ran through the cries and groans of blind ones, turning corner to corner, the lights passing them like lines until they reached small ally with a dead end. He hurriedly pulled her inside, "The blind ones walk on" he said quietly; "and the ones who see walk into walls" she was surprised by his casual tone, she could hear her own heart beating after all the running, feeling slightly dizzy she struggled to find her breath. There were no lights in the valley, the brick walls were covered with mold, he led her to the end and revealed a window, the glass was smudged and blurred, the wooden frames already soft and falling apart, you would find pieces of green paint if you looked hard enough. It was an odd place to place a window she thought to herself, to add to the bizarreness she saw nothing beyond the glass, no room, no wall, not even darkness, and in the down right corner of the frame was a carving of the word "home" the writing was wobbly and clumsy as if done by a child. Puzzled she turned to look at him, but the without the streetlights she saw nothing, for a split moment she panicked, her eyes failed to make out any form or shape, but then she remembered his firm grip on her wrist. "Close your eyes" he warned "whatever happens don't open them until I say so" she nodded and closed them obediently. She felt him run, tugging her with him, she realized they were running into the window, she closed her eyes tighter. Soon she heard the soft clinging of glass, she felt the ice cold pieces tumbled past her, and then there was the falling, a feeling that she grew to like over the years. The scent suddenly changed, she could no longer smell the acid rain, it was replaced by decaying wood, she expected an impact at the end of the falling but instead she felt the floor appear beneath her feet, and she stood, as if they were not falling at all. "You can open them now" she felt him let go of her hand, the room was dimly lit, across from her she made out the outlines of pots and pans, a white fridge that had become yellow, wooden cupboards and a simple dining table, there was only one chair. The man pointed to the chair, signaling her to take a seat, he then proceeded to find food in the fridge as if nothing of the odd had happened. He heard the girl say something but the shuffling of containers covered her voice "what?" he asked as he pulled the container he was finding out. "What are shadows?" the girl repeated again, her legs dangling from the chair that was too tall for her. The microwave buzzed to #life, the man sat down by the window, a spot that later became hers. "People can't stand what they see, they deny it, they create illusions for themselves, and soon they refuse to see all together." he looked out the window, his grey eyes paler under the moonlight, "they can run, but part of them still needs to accept and solve what they see, the part in which has been locked away, in a way they have neglected themselves." the microwave stopped with a bright tinging sound, the man took out the container, not bothered by its heat he poured its contents out on a white plate, he placed it in front of her along with a fork, it was then she realized that she was hungry, she looked at the food, still steaming, her memory told her it was pasta. The man sat back near the window and continued "The neglected self, over time they became angry and desperate, they had no control over actions, they were forced into shadows, but every night when the star no longer shines, they come out, and try again and again to wake themselves up" suddenly he laughed "but as you see, the blind walk on" he leaned back to the wall with his hand reflexively placed on his forehead "funny isn't it?, you deny yourself because of pain, but then you are in pain of trying to wake up yourself, while you'd rather be blind". She looked at him, she looked at the pasta, she didn't touch it yet, it was too hot. The man sat back up and looked at her,at least that's what she felt, she can only make out the shape of his head, "where are you from?" he asked, he was curious when he saw her, amused when he noticed the color of her hair and her eyes, did she just wake up? She is certainly not blind, but he could tell that she can't see clearly either. The girl picked up her fork and started to flip the food in front of her, she looked confused. "I don't remember" she finally said slowly "I don't remember anything...just that I was happier there, and I want to go back, someone will take me back...and so I started waiting."

Windows Chapter 1: The Man, The Girl And The Shadows 1. She sat alone, her white hair laying gently on her arms, she felt her breath on her knees as she stared, as if unable to focus on something too distant. They all hurried past her, not to avoid but it was their nature to hurry, they too stared, but had nothing to focus on. The city was filled with the smell of damp mud, thin drops of rain trickled her skin, and the hurrying people all stopped in unity, in an instant millions of black umbrellas sprung open, and soon they were all hurrying again. A pair of well polished shoes stopped before her, she looked up at the man, she made out the shapes of his face, his hat, and with a bit of difficulty his eyes. For a moment they were silent, unsure what to make out of the situation, it was then she realized that his eyes were fixed on her, this sent a chill down her spine, he was not one of the blind ones, she wrapped her arms tighter around her legs. The man took no note of her uncomfortness and sat down next to her, he followed her gaze into the distance, she felt his black rubbery coat against her bare arms. "what are you doing?" he asked. "I'm waiting" "waiting for what?" "for it to pass" "what?" "everything" The blind walks on, no ones knows where they are from, no one knows where they go, but they take their steps forward, while the ones who can see stays.
