Bookshop - A Play - Scene Three New characters: Opposing staff 1 & 2 Opposing Boss Manager: (shocked) Nnnnn...nnnnoooo... Nooooooo!!! Staff: What? O. Staff: We're here to take over. Punk. (Manager faints) Meanwhile... Shopkeeper: Can I apply? O. Boss: Yes. £200 a day. Shopkeeper: (excited) Woot! Staff: Can we apply? O. Boss: Only one of you can. (Looking dejected, Staff 2 walks out the door and goes back into the other store. O. Boss, O. Staff 1 and Shopkeeper look sorry) O. Boss: Poor lad. (Turning to shopkeeper) Now, lets have a further discussion about wages... (Curtains drop, chattering continues until, with the curtains still down); O. Boss: £900 a week! Shopkeeper: Deal! (Curtain rises. Glass breaks as the Manager breaks in) Manager: Hold it, cowboy. You are not hiring them unless you take ME down! The Christmas Surprise This is a story about a girl who helps Santa but then gets ripped off. If you find yourself getting ripped off, show the person this Oppus and hope that he/she learns a lesson. Enjoy. Emma woke up one Christmas Day to find that she had no presents! On the end of her bed she found a letter from 100 million of Santa's elves. It said that Santa was very overworked. After she had read the letter, she found herself being whisked off to the North Pole. There she met an elf whose name was Aran. He said that he was Santa's helper. Because Santa was overworked, Emma had to deliver all 10 billion presents to everyone around the world before they woke up. Rudolph was in front and off they went. It was a hard job but in the end they did it in 45 minutes. When she arrived back home, she found £5 on her bed. She was so upset.

Not Quite A Tomboy Length: 470 words I wanted to be like Emma. I wanted to be able to climb the tallest trees and swing from branch to branch like a monkey. I wanted to hold jumping spiders in the palm of my hand without feeling sick. I wanted to forget about my appearance, forget about the dirt on my trousers or the state of my hair and simply enjoy myself outdoors. But no matter how hard I tried, I just wasn't like Emma. One day, Emma, Brooke and I decided to go to the river for a picnic. We packed crisps into a basket and covered it with a blanket. We found some fishing nets and an empty plastic bottle. Then we set off. It was a beautiful day, the sun shone warmly on our bare arms and the blue sky reflected a beautiful shade of turquoise into the calm river water. We set up our picnic on the blanket by the edge of the water and took off our socks and shoes. Rolling up our trouser legs and carrying fishing nets, we waded out into the river. Millions of tiny goldfishes swam around our ankles and between our toes. It tickled. We caught several and put them into the plastic bottle with some water. The stones on the river bed were sharp and sore on my feet, and the water was perishingly cold. Still, I had to do this. Maybe I could prove myself to be quite a tomboy, like Emma. We ended up with thirteen fish. Or rather, Brooke and Emma did. I didn't catch a single one. We ate our picnic, packed the leftovers back into the basket and gathered up the blanket. Then we let the fish go. As we were leaving, I noticed a large oak tree lying on its side. I loved to climb trees. I couldn't just pass the opportunity. I swung my legs over one of the branches and used my hands to pull myself onto the thick, knobbly trunk. It wobbled a bit - I held tight. I climbed up the branch, my arms stretched out, as though I were walking a tight rope. As I neared the end I climbed up one of the smaller branches and sat with my legs dangling. The view was spectacular. The river water shimmered and glistened like diamonds in the sun's pleasant rays. The sun seemed to smile at me from the clear blue sky above. Little hummingbirds played in the long grass and horses breighed from one of the fields nearby. I was perfectly content and happy. 'I don't need to be a tomboy,' I thought. 'I can enjoy God's wonderful creation just as I am.' And from then on I just tried to be myself, and I was always happy.

A Fairy Tale Length: 377 words Once in a faraway land lived Princess Laura. She was very beautiful but the meanest woman ever! Her maid, Emma, was not very pretty but she had a troubled past. Many said she was an orphan but no one truly knew where she came from. One stormy evening the Princess found a golden hair in her meat. It couldn't possibly have been hers! But her maid did have golden hair. The Princess ordered her away into the stormy night. 20 years later, all who lived in the palace had left or died. The maid returned to just be thrown into the dungeons. There was a boy in that very dungeon. "What's the matter?" He asked "I have no money and nowhere to go. The Princess is to be crowned Queen tomorrow and she will ruin our town." She sighed. Aran was the name of the boy. He was released, but the old maid was left. Months passed and nothing happened except chaos in the town of Manchester. A war of witches happened and all spells that had ever taken place were released. The maid woke that morning and looked in the cracked mirror on the floor. "My face!" She cried, "I'm beautiful!" But up in the turrets of the castle the Princess cried. She looked as ugly as a starfish! A beautiful fairy enchantress came to the door of the dungeon. "Please come with me." "Will I be hung?" The poor maid asked in fear. "No my child. You are to see your kingdom." The maid was then told what had happened. After she had been born, the same Friday as the Princess, the King had been angered at his daughter's ugly face. He stole the Fairy Queen's daughter, to take her face away and work for them. The maid had never thought this was true, but when she was taken to the people, they loved her! They cheered and clapped. "Whatever happened to your hair?" The Fairy Queen asked. "I do not know." She sighed and looked down at her hair. "My goodness!" She cried. "Yes my dear, you are my Rapunzel all right!" They laughed and hugged for joy. The small town then lived happily ever after!
