Cutting Down Hours I saw her from across the street. Her elegant crimson cape was draped around her neck and shoulders, her face submerged in her shady hood. On her feet, she wore chunky, thick boots covered in a thin layer of mud from where she'd been cowering in the nearby forest. To cover the lower half of her body, she dressed in brown, grass-stained trousers with cuts and patches all over them. I tiptoed a bit closer to her. Had she noticed me yet? I couldn't tell. I was about to tiptoe over a bit more when she whipped her head round and stared at me. I could feel her icy glare pierce my soul and if it weren't for the hood in the way, I might have been turned into ice. "Hello? May I know your name?" I whispered sweetly. The girl leaned in a bit. "Ezra," She squeaked back. Before I could say anything else she turned and scampered into the forest. My eyes followed her as she ventured deep into the forest. Who was this mysterious Ezra? Why was she here and who, or what, was she hiding from?
