The First Leaders Of The Forest: Warriors Prologue: Thunder and his family were born as kittypets. Thunder had 2 brothers and 2 sisters; Shadow and Wind were his brothers, while River and Sky were his sisters. Their mother, #life, took good care of them, but raised them differently. Thunder was taught to be kind-hearted, but hard as stone. Shadow was not given much attention, so he was mean and cold. Wind was taught to love #life, and running through grass. River was taught to catch fish in rivers. Sky was taught to be able to climb trees with grace and ease. All the cats were excellent at this, but didn't care much for the others' skills. After a while, they had to hunt for themselves, but they still lived with #life. Thunder chose the forests, Shadow the thick and dark trees, Wind the open ground, River the water, and Sky chose the treetops. The cats soon moved to the forest, with their followers from their old home in Twolegplace. Chapter 1: "Thunder, come on!" said Sky, his sister. "#life told us to live here!" it was true, Thunder's and Sky's mother had told them to live here, in the forest. Bird looked over at Sky, and said "Sky, we are moving to the forest. But what will we do then?" Sky didn't answer, but Shadow did. "We will find suitable areas to live, hunt, and mate. Bird, as you prefer the trees like Sky and your sister, Song, you will live in an area with big trees with few branches, so you can hunt birds. You know, the creature you were named for?" Shadow said, annoyed. " River glared at Shadow, and flicked him over the head with his tail. Shadow growled, but said nothing. Night, who decided to live with Shadow, said "Watch it River! You know Maple, your little friend? She better watch her back!" River just sighed. She and Wind were the easy-going members of their family. Shadow was harsh, Sky was a mix of her and Shadow, while Thunder was secretive. They were all walking through the forest, when they came upon 4 saplings, recently planted. They were planted close to each other, but not to close so they may strangle each other. Wind gasped, and said "Oh! This place is perfect!" Tick just stared at her, when Thunder replied "Why, Wind?" Wind purred in amusement, and said "Because it's peaceful, there are plenty of rocks, the prey seems plentiful, and... I can just feel it's right for a starting point!" River sighed, then said "Sure, Wind. We'll live here at first, and I'm sure #life will approve. Wind purred with happiness at her excellent choice. Thunder glanced at the saplings, the rocks, and the general area of the field. "If you guys think so, I think so. But something tells me we won't be here for long." All the cats who had left their home stared at their new home with longing, sadness, and fear. Chapter 2: #life at the clearing, later named Fourtrees, was going well. The cats were at peace with each other, and they were all catching plenty of fresh-kill. Well, almost all of them. A few cats were too young to hunt, so they explored the camp. One cat was to have cats in a#moonor two, so she devoted her time to watching the young kits. Another cat liked the idea of healing, Green, so she was there when Shadow almost lost his eye from a falling branch. On that same hunt, River found her perfect place to live in the forest. She, Shadow, Sparrow, and Swift were hunting near an old island. Swift slipped and fell in the water, but he preferred water over land, so he was fine. Sparrow chased a bird up a tree, but started to stalk it on a weak branch. As the bird flew off, Sparrow jumped, but it was too weak to hold his weight all at once. It broke off, and Sparrow fell right next to Shadow, while the branch fell on Shadow as he looked up. "Shadow!" River screamed. She raced over to him, and called out for Green. They were too far away from Fourtrees, so Swift instead raced over, dripping wet from the stream he was trying to catch in. He started dragging the unconscious Shadow with Sparrow close behind. River looked at the surrounding area, and saw a wonderful place to live: A river surrounding an island big enough to live. The river filled with fish. Other cats or enemies not liking to swim, so it's good protection to have a large river. She raced over to Fourtrees, shortly after Swift carried in Shadow. She ran over to Green's rock, and stared at Shadow for what felt like forever. She knew Green was talking to her, but she only caught the words "Blindness. Sleep. Permanent?" After a while, Thunder, Wind, and Sky came over, and brought River to a section of the rocks big enough for all of them to stand together. Thunder hissed to River "Well? What did you do?" his words filled with fury and rage. Chapter 3: "What?" River sputtered back to Thunder, deeply confused. Thunder continued glaring at her, and growled "Swift saw none the accident. Shadow is currently in a deep sleep. But Sparrow explained how you forced him up the tree, forced Shadow to wait underneath it, and then commanded Sparrow to jump on the branch. Explain yourself, River!" Thunder growled. "River..." said Sky. "Why did you do it? You've always been sweet, and kind." River glared at them all. "Not anymore. Not if my litter-mates jump to conclusions so quickly from a cat who has lied to you before. Maple! Fern! Swift! We're leaving!" Maple, Swift, and Fern were at her side in an instant. Wind looked confused. "River? Where will you go? What will you do?" River lost some of her anger when she said "There's an area of land that seems wonderful for us." while gesturing to Maple, Swift, and Fern. "We think we have decided to live there, and join RiverClan." Thunder was now furious. "RiverClan? You dare create a Clan based on your name?" River stared at him straight in the eyes and said "Yes I do. And while hunting a few moons ago, I saw a wonderful moorland, and a lushish forest filled with bushes. I'm sure Wind and Thunder might enjoy these lands, but sadly... You Foxdung! You haven't even looked for your lands!" Wind seemed very upset at the conversion, but acted grateful to River for the land idea. "Thank you, River for the land. I'm sure Green, Bark, and Sunset will enjoy the land." Thunder gruffly said to River "Yeah, what Wind said. And I'm sure Sparrow, Leaf, and Blue will like the land." River nodded to her family, then left Fourtrees. Chapter 4: Thunder and Wind moved to the area River had suggested for them, and Wind created WindClan with Green, Bark, and Sunset almost immediately. Thunder eventually had to call it ThunderClan, because Sparrow, Leaf, and Blue thought it should mirror the names WindClan and RiverClan, because that way, there would be 5 Clans total when Sky and Shadow found their place to live. They were still living at Fourtrees, Shadow not even bothering to look for a new home. Sky, however, was looking every single hunting trip. It was only her, Shadow, and their followers. There were very little cats, and the weather was getting colder. The prey was less, and Shadow ate like a dog. That is to say, a lot. Sky was becoming more skinny than usual. RiverClan was doing okay, plenty of fish in the river. ThunderClan, no idea. They pretty much went silent. WindClan's moors were slowly emptying out, but there were a few tunnels where prey lived. Wind had told her he was thinking of ordering new tunnels to be made. She saw prey-catchers come back, empty-handed as usual. Sky sighed, and got Shadow and Night to come with her on a hunting trip. She went South-East of Fourtrees, while Shadow and Night went North-East. Sky found a bunch of trees with nests full of birds. For some reason, they had not migrated. "They must be Forever Birds..." Sky said. Forever Birds were an old kits tale. Forever Birds were birds that stayed and lived throughout leaf-bare, and they kept the cats alive. She looked all around the trees, and saw they surrounded a clearing. This place is perfect for her Clan: SkyClan. Chapter 5: "Shadow, are we really going to have to leave Fourtrees?" Night asked. Shadow replied "Probably. But we currently live there. The other Clans must drive us out first. Then we will look." Night smiled harshly. "Lovely plan. Shadow... Look!" Shadow followed her base, and saw 3 sleeping foxes. Foxes are ugly, stupid creatures. But they are bloodthirsty. "We must tell whichever Clan that lives near here instantly." Night whispered. "Why? Let the fools fend for themselves!" Shadow shouted. One fox looked up, and looked around sleepily. His gaze found them, and growled silently. Then sleepiness overtook him, and he fell back to the ground asleep. "Shadow, can we leave here?" Night asked. "You can go back. I must look around. Brambles, darkness, long grass... If we are chased out, we will move here." Night nodded, the left. She truly thought Shadow was to be eaten. She went all the way back to Fourtrees, forgetting all about hunting for prey. Shadow, however, had not. He searched around the area, careful not to wake the foxes. He studied the prey, and found a lot of it, even though leaf-bare was almost upon them. He decided to keep this place a secret from everyone else except for Night, who had found it with him. Shadow caught a small mouse and carried it back to Fourtrees. Sky, Bird, Song, and Tick were gone. He later found out they left to their new home, which they had found. ThunderClan, RiverClan, WindClan, and SkyClan were happy in their territories. Shadow, Night, Blink, and Flower where still living at Fourtrees, and they were fine with that. Chapter 6: It has been 9 sunrises since SkyClan moved out of Fourtrees. ShadowClan was finding less and less prey at Fourtrees. The other Clans were annoyed at Shadow for not moving out, but only RiverClan was truly annoyed. Everyone else was fine, but slightly annoyed. RiverClan had called a meeting near their river. "Maple, Swift, Fern. Thank you for coming." began River. "Many moons have passed since we first moved here." Fern whispered to Swift "Yeah, like 3 moons." River heard, but acted as if she didn't. "ShadowClan must leave Fourtrees. Blink told me Shadow and Night found the perfect place, but they aren't leaving. They're too comfortable." Maple bounced up and shouted "What! I vote we go to war with ShadowClan!" Swift agreed, while Fern said "Umm... Maple? 4 against 4? Doesn't seem fair. I vote we get help from ThunderClan, WindClan, and SkyClan." River jumped onto a rock 3 tail-lengths higher than everyone else and said "Listen! I am leader! I do agree with Fern. We must get help!" All the cats shouted agreement, and Fern, River, and Swift went to WindClan, ThunderClan, and SkyClan. Maple stayed, and prepared herself mentally. "I will fight. I will not fight. I will fight." she mumbled to herself. She was a Queen, so she was endangering her kits if she did fight ShadowClan. After a while, she chose not to fight. Fern returned without WindClan. "They didn't want to fight." said Fern. River came back with ThunderClan. "ThunderClan will fight." mewed Thunder. Swift came back with SkyClan. "All of ThunderClan are here. All of RiverClan is here, except for Maple. She will not fight. SkyClan is here, without Song." said River. "Thunder, Sky, thank you for the help. We will fight ShadowClan, and make them leave Fourtrees!" Chapter 7: ThunderClan, RiverClan, and SkyClan moved silently through the undergrowth towards Fourtrees. River saw movement, and raised her tail, signaling for the cats to stop. Thunder, however, did not listen. He pounced towards the figure, but the thing moved toward the right. It looked up at River, and she saw it was a cat! The cat said "This one needs practice." Thunder growled, and prepared to pounce again, but the cat said "Oh, don't bother." River stepped forward, and said "Hello. Excuse me, but who are you?" The cat looked right through her, and said "Star. And you are River." River stared at Star, perplexed. Star purred at River's expression, and said "Neat how I know who you are, right? Thunder, try to follow orders. Sky, you've grown!" Thunder growled again, but stayed where he was. Sky stared at Star, and something clicked into her head. "Star?" Star turned her attention to Sky, and said "Sky? You know me, don't you. Good. 'Bout time one of you recognize me!" Sky whispered "Star, your kit was #life, wasn't it?" Thunder growled, then said "Hold on! #life told us Star is dead. #life even told all of the cats with us now!" Star looked down sadly, and said "It is true. I am dead. But I am a member of a certain Clan that holds the deceased." Sparrow padded next to Thunder, and said "StarClan? That's a kits' tale. What a load of foxdung!" Star stared at him sadly, then said to River "Do not fight. If you do, a cat has a high chance of death. Talk it out." River bowed her head, then mewed "I'll try Star." When she looked up, Star had gone leaving something glittering on the ground. "Thunder growled "Well? On to Fourtrees?" River nodded, and repeated "To Fourtrees!"
