Let the knitting begin For the #life of me I don't know where I thought I'd find more time to start knitting. Regardless the idea of creating something which again puts me in the tree hugging and petunia oil club, is quite appealing. I fancy myself a closet hippy. More importantly it's quite rare these days to find people who sew, knit, crochet etc. It's a lost art and I often meet people that can't sew on a button much less actually sew. I thought it was a right of passage, similar to learning to drive, going to university. Alas that's not the case and I'm just forced to admit I'm showing my age. But on this point, both my Grandmothers were avid sewers of various descriptions and I do think it's important to keep the art alive. According to my five year old, quilting is just "cutting, sewing and ironing", so perhaps the art is already dead in my house! "Sew"....ha, ha, ha......back to my crusty knitting adventure. I was drawn to my wonderful Aunt Celia's pink knitted cardi and Celia being Celia, kindly bought me needles, shared the pattern and a rather garish blue, orange and pinkish wool (that i selected) is currently traveling trans Atlantic to unite with me to start our knitting adventure. The question of time still remains. Eagerness to do something new in the sewing arena doesn't necessarily mean I have time, at this point it's a combination of madness and sheer will. The quilt that needs binding, the artwork to frame in my superb new hand made frames (thank you Craig!), the digital scrapbooks, organizing my children's artwork and the four other quilts I intend to make are still on my jumbled list of priorities and will fall foul to my knitting foray...at least temporarily.
