Hypocrisy By no extent of the imagination am I suggesting that I'm a saint when it comes to being a hypocrite; I hate bitches, but honestly I can be one. I have a dislike for materialism and people who flash their cash, yet, I am one of these people(when I have money) Now this weekend is Easter weekend and it's the meaning behind such traditions and beliefs that have led me to create this peice. Today is good Friday and even to a religion novice like myself I know that fish is normally consumed on this day. Something to do with Jesus. Bread and 5000 people. I think. (I'm a open atheist, don't hold me too it) So in my household today we were told to eat fish because "it's good Friday, and that's what we do" and it was this that made me think of how hypocritical some people are in their aspect to religion. People who claim not to believe in the events told in the bible yet still blaspheme against Jesus' name. Individuals who claim not to believe that there was a saviour who sacrificed himself for us yet these people still celebrate Christmas. I suppose looking at such things that I am once again a hypocrite. Now I'm not trying to make excuses, but, I do these things because my family do. In order to be a part of my family (who are Christian) I celebrate these times with them. Not because I necessarily believe in them, it is just a occasion to share with my family. But here I still think of the hypocrisy that affects other people when it comes to such religious holidays. Is this down to sociological pressure? Or just force tradition ?
