Dream Diary 1: Clown Nightmare I am in my room minding my own business. Probably playing computer games or looking at YouTube videos online, an activity that has quickly become a daily routine. Mum is downstairs in the kitchen as usual. Rushing around, doing the various things a mother does. She often stays up late doing the dishes or just tidying up. It is late and the kitchen light isn't working but the bright eerie glow of the late hours barely lights the room so if you stood and looked through the door you could see her shadow. A shadow of a hand slowly approaches from further in the room where you can't see from the door but it is clear it is not from mums hand but from another. The stranger approaches and mum turns in horror to find the stranger slowly and silently reaching for her. I here a short scream from my room and start downstairs. I want to move fast to find out what happened but I am also wary of what may have caused it so I am careful not to rush. I peek through the white bars of the stairs that holds the long brown bannister sturdily in place and see nothing but the eerie light, dimly lighting the room in a strange, supernatural tone of blue. There is no shadow to be seen. I cautiously creep forward through the door frame and into the kitchen. I look at the eerie light from the window and listen carefully, only to hear the lashing rain of tonight's ferocious storm and see the many droplets of water dribbling down the glass like they were themselves running from danger. Suddenly I notice the natural sensation that someone is nearby and turn sharply to see a deep dark silhouette unknown to me. The creepy, mysterious feeling if the unknown figure left me with no instant response but to gaze at the wonder of the unfamiliar shape. Before I had a chance to even realise how I was supposed to react the hand pointed to the wall behind me. Just as I turned to see the wall he was pointing to, lightning flashed and revealed a brick wall with the words 'I am going to paint you' in roughly pasted bright red. This was of course a very puzzling statement to make, especially as what appeared to be a threat but in the horrible situation i was in, it was only natural i take it seriously no matter what was written there. Of course the shock of these strange series of events meant I was forced to believe the message was written in blood but to my surprise I soon realised it was something else. I turned again to see the stranger just as the lightning struck again, lighting the bright white, red and green of the iconic clowns face. My eyes zigzagged across the body in a useless attempt to try and understand what I was seeing. I also saw he had a big paint brush grasped in his large hands, dripping with red paint so thick it slithered off the brush and dribbled on the floor like the spoils of a persons remains. This weird sight violently tugged at my senses and told me to run for my #life. As I began to run, thousands of thoughts rushed through my head of how to save myself. The one that stood out the most was to call the police. With my mind having no room for any better ideas, I rushed to the phone by the front door. I rang 999 and kept quickly craning my head over my shoulder to see whether the figure was following me. I had time. When I got to the police I screamed the first words that cane to mind 'HELP! HELP! There is a clown after me!'. I stood horrified at the ignorant laughter of all the staff at the police station. They thought it was a prank. They thought it was a joke. 'He's going to KILL ME!!!' I shrieked in terror, only to hear the deadly long, deep ring that circled in my mind long after I slammed the phone down as a sign of the endless void of death that laid ahead of me. I could feel his presence. He was behind me. I turned and in a quick flash of his face and hands reaching towards me I flung my torso from the bed like a jack in the box. My head turned in all possible directions to observe the danger before I realised it was a dream. Despite the relief I should have felt, I found myself unable to rest as I was sure I could still see his face imprinted in the darkness of my room and the deathly, long, ringing beep that signalled my demise.
