Sausage plait Ingredients Filling 8 pork sausages 1 chopped onion Pastry 12oz flour 6oz marg/ butter Water to bind Or if you want to cheat, use premade puff or shot crust pastry. Method 1. Chop the onion finely 2.gently fry the onion until soft. Set aside. 3. Make pastry by rubbing in math into flour. Add water to make soft dough. Or cut open packet of pastry. 4. Take sausages and remove skins. Place in a bowl and stir in fried onions until combined. You can add herbs if you like. 5. Roll pastry out to a rectangle and trim to approximately 10 ins by 6ins and about 1/2 cm thick. There will be plenty remaining to use later. 6. Place pastry onto baking tray. Spread Sausage and onion mixture over pastry. 7. Using the left over pastry, cross strips of pastry over top of sausage meat. Brush egg all over, turning up edges to create a case. 8. Place in preheated oven, 180 c/ gas 5 for 30/40 minutes until golden brown and sausage meat is cooked. Eat with crisp salad. This is my kids favourite meal. You can use any type of sausage meat. You can add any herbs. Garlic or anything to the meat.
