New Year in Prison The clock strikes twelve Girls all awake Doors banging Shouts of New Year's tidings Called out On New Year's Day We pass the parcel One more gift to finally Be opened Calendars put up Diary's sorted Visits booked for The next month A new beginning for those out there Another day for us in here Time off work Food left over eaten just because Chapel held for Christians Songs of joy to be heard What does New Year mean To us? Hopefully a day closer to Release Can't quit smoking We already done that! Resolutions consist of Reading more or using the gym What more can be done When you're stuck in a locked room? No more nickings A fresh start Make up with enemies- It won't last All this time we've sat and stewed, Well, it's nothing new Same old, same old But I try to see What I can do to help Set me free ##poetsin #poetry #newyear #newbeginnings #prison#life
