The Wonder Of Childhood Endless wonder, You breathed #life into the world once. Do you remember? With the ends of your delicate fingertips, You orchestrated enchanting marvels, You gingerly played with the planets like impartial marbles. Each graceful stride you tread left an imprint. Illuminating stepping stones. Magic, little one, now extinct. Some remains but now just embers, You flew once, don't you remember? You swore you soared so high, Almost reached the moon. Explored in dreams, the world, Till you became marooned. Conquered mountians, fought off the monsters, Under your bed the wicked imposters You'd wrinkle your nose, pulled out your tongue and roared, Brave little lioness, chased away the horde. Slick your wild, black tatters back tight Fearless little one free from contrite. How I long to stop the hands of time, Frozen forever, a fossil in her prime. In this perfect moment. Your eyes glistening from the laughter singing in your throat, Eye wrinkles fixed to hold the chords and notes, Safe in this phantom bubble, Away from the imminent chaos and struggle. How I wish to live on in this moment, Forever you and me, little one Mannequins in a exhibition amdist relics, Amongst history's politicians and medics. That way we'll avoid the inevitiable ceasefire, In which those wrinkles smooth and retire, Those eyes heave tears, the mind develops fears. Till the sighs sung from your lips gives #life to a grey world. So keep me here amidst the wonder Where the colours are sharp and breathe, A time when the world was still new, And I naive.
