Free Write 1. I slide my red gloves on, then grabbed my white jacket. The alarm is still blaring. I run out of my room and into the hallway. Other students were running out of their rooms too. "Hey Conner!" A voice calls from behind me. I turn and see my friend Ben jog up to me. Ben Martin is the fastest kid in the school. With the special modified yellow track suit and shoes the school made, he could be the fastest man on earth. The school takes prodigies and makes technology that will enhance their gifts. My gift is being strong, my gloves and jacket make me even stronger. Ben interrupts my thoughts as he asks, "Do you know what is happening?" "No idea. Have you seen Grace?" I ask as I look around Ben, but I don't see the feisty blond anywhere. "No, but I bet she's the reason for the alarm. The last time the alarm went off it was because she caught the cafeteria on fire." Ben replies, his green eyes sparkle, "I can't wait to find out what she did this time." Grace Collins's gift is with swords. She could beat anyone with her sword. She would be the best student in this school, if she didn't have a short temper. If the school did something she didn't like, she would do a petty act of vandalism. Sometimes she would make me and Ben help her. Last month one of her teachers gave her a bad grade so she had me and Ben distract the teachers as she caught the cafeteria on fire. The only reason she hasn't been kicked out yet is because of her skill, but it's only November, skill wouldn't save her from the principal's wrath for long. I follow the other students out of the dorm. There is a bunch of students already outside. I stop Grace in the middle of them. I leave Ben and walk over to Grace. "Hey Grace!" I call to her. "Hey Conner!" She turns and smiles at me. "Did you cause this?" I ask her as Ben runs up to us. "What did you do this time?" Ben asks excitedly. "Me?! Why would think I would do this?" Grace says angrily. "Someone broke into the school and stole some tech." "Do they know who did it?" I ask. "No, but they suspect a student did it." Grace replies.
