Ascendancy: Chapter 1: Target Practice He touched the familiar birch wood surface, bringing his hand to the to cold, bolt action mechanism, thrusting the bolt forward, pushing a cartridge into the chamber and cocking a piece all in one swift movement. He looked through the scope, positioning the crosshairs on his target. "Perfect" he said to himself. He put the slightest pressure on the trigger, bringing it back by a hairs breadth. The bullet twirled through the counter-bored barrel, leaving the chamber with such speed that kept increasing until it reached it target. The bullet passed through the target, tearing through flesh and bone. After the bullet fired the extractor on the head of the bolt removed the spent cartridge and ejected it, moving a new cartridge from the magazine repeating the process. He took aim on the second target, who was already scanning the windows and roofs of the buildings, and fired, embedding the bullet in his skull. Hey guy's, just a quick sample on something that I'm working on right now, I hope you like it.It is a fictitious story about how a Germany won WW2 and the last shattered remnants of the Allied alliance lie in Resistance groups waiting for the perfect moment to strike back. It is going to be set in German occupied Russia with a marksman trying to survive until he joins one of the resistance groups.
