Pear Of Betrayal As I stand by the lake She walks towards me The apple of my eye Golden in the sunlight Gentle as the breeze A pear in each hand She tosses one to me and I catch it And raise it to my mouth Smiling, I bite into the green pear The juicy taste fills my mouth And laughter and smiles follow Such sweetness I take another bite And my eyes readjust No laughter follows Her eyes fade The bitter taste Rots in my mouth I drop the pear and Continue to walk down the lake The after taste of betrayal lingers in my mouth It must have been a rotten pear #itsbeenawhile
