Becoming Undead I wrote this for a competition recently and the theme was #gothic #nightcrawlers I can feel the darkness grow inside me, Like a tumour in one’s head. Each blood vessel drying out, My body left in a state of drought. The venom beginning to spread. It’s a hunger, a thirst, a cry from inside, The human within me, I know now, has died. And yet it’s unearthly, peculiar, fey, I’ve never felt so alive in this way. I can hear my heartbeat pulse inside me, Like a pacing, racing, car. The thunder turns, My body yearns, For a trip to the bloodlust bar. The sun stokes my skin, I shudder with fear, This is where the game must conclude. And I cannot control, This bloodthirsty soul, So I’ll end this monsters blood feud.
