Souls And The Bloodline **Chap 4** The bedrooms they had were strange. To reach one, they had a lone spiralling staircase and when you entered the room, it was not so big but not so small either. On the right side, there was one huge window and a curtain. Down below, the thrones and the golden chamber could be seen. Maple closed the curtains then looked back at the room. Everything in this place was strange. There was no TV or any other kind of electronic device. The only thing in here was a dresser and a bed. She flopped down onto the bed, lazily staring at the bright purple ceiling. How did she end up like this? Stuck in some place who knew where, and stuck with a bunch of people who were out of their right minds. There was a soft knock on the door. "Come in," She said. Adrian stepped inside, he had changed his earlier outfit to black skinny jeans, boots, and a blue shirt. Now that she studied him as he made his way to the bed, Maple realised her father looked very young, 16? 17? He sat down next to her, "Do you still think we're crazy?" He asked, glancing at her. "Yes, how do you think I'm just going to be like, 'Oh, yeah. Other world stuff! Whatever!'" Maple growled. "I know... It was hard for me too...." Maple stared at Adrian in amazement, "You're from where I'm from?" She asked excitedly. He nods, "I still remember. I was 18, my mum wasn't around and my father had to take care of my sister, me, and my two younger brothers, he worked at an office as someone who typewrites-" Maple decided to interrupt, "Typewriter? What year was it?" She asked. Adrian paused for a moment as if to gather his thoughts, "1964." He said, shrugging as if it was something normal. Maple's eyes widened in surprise, she lifted her hand towards her father's face and caressed his cheek slowly, "You looked like you never aged a day..." She muttered. He laughed, "Im getting to that. No more interruptions, okay?" She nods. "So my father wanted me to get in the business to help take care of my siblings since I was the oldest and he was getting even more older. My training session at the office was around night time. I lived in England at the time... I don't really remember where but anyway, as I was walking, it was getting dark but then I heard these people fighting. Somehow I got tangled up in the fight and I blacked out. Next thing I knew, I was here. I met your mum, at first she was annoying and I wanted nothing to do with her, but then I started to fall in love with her..." He looked down at the hands on his lap and chuckled. "How can you still look like a teenager if that happened so many years ago?" Maple asked in awe. Her father met her gaze and whispered, "Vampire. I was turned." That was all he said as he got up to leave. Maple didn't try to stop him. Why did he answer her that way? There must be something going on. Maple suddenly remembered Drake's expression when he looked at Sara. Pure disgust. Why? So many question swirled around her head like millions of buzzing bees. Questions she definitely needed answers to. There was another knock on the door and Drake stepped through. He did not attempt to approach. "I just wanted to welcome you," He said softly. Though, the way Drake looked at Maple- the same way he had looked at Sara- said otherwise. Maple decided not to say anything about that. "Thank you." He nods and exits, not even attempting conversation. Maple shuts the door and locks it then throws herself onto the fluffy pillows. She closed her eyes and pretended she was back with Thorne, arguing about silly things such as who was the better monster from Doctor Who.
