Thirteen In The Dark: Part 4 My wandering eyes interlock with Harry's dark green eyes for the first time. My gaze soften to signal I am ok. No one has seen sun in a very long time. Some of us almost look like albinos, and our skin is very sensitive. My throat is as dry as dirt, so I glance at the watering hole which I find is infested with rodents and insects, but worst of all it is dark and murky. Not clear like it should be. "Stand me up." I command "You need to rest, it's not safe for you to be up and about." Someone disagrees from behind my sight. Macy, the girl with the sight abilities in the dark, carefully tugs my arms until I am in a sitting position. The deep gashes dried with blood sting as the blood flow in my head falls down in my veins. My right hand is bruised from plummeting in the air and smooshing my body weight onto it. "You want to make me feel better, pick me up onto my feet!" I snap. My brows lower over my cold angry eyes. Macy, the only one willing to help, uses all of her strength and fails to get me on my feet. Harrison jumps in and assists Macy on her second attempt. "Thank you... I'm sorry I snapped. I'm just not myself today." My head bows, ashamed of my rudeness towards the people only trying to help. I think I am in love with someone for the first time. I've never felt this way about anyone before, not even my parents. They wouldn't protect me. They let me come here. My legs start to un-numb themselves, revealing so much pain, I can barely stand. "We have to jump. Before they come back and punish us, or kill us all." I gulp. They stare at me in astonishment. Ginny, confused asks, "You mean like out the window? Kill ourselves before they do?" I burst into laughter ignoring the throbbing torture of my lungs. "Yes, out the window, but we won't kill ourselves, we just have to get out of here. We can't stay." I drift my head and witness the nods of approval. And at this point I realize Harrison has not been talking to me. Not since I lost my voice for those brief minutes. Everyone's skin is fading into a pinkish red from the sun already, including mine. "Harry wait..." I pace towards him. "You almost died." His voice was firm. But I don't understand. Shouldn't he be glee I am still alive? Not moping around that I was near death in a way. Rain pours from the sky and leaks into the damp rusty old room. We need to plan our escape. With everyone's survival. But how? We may be running out of time.
