The Other Side I stare at my clothes. What would you wear to an abandoned insane asylum? Nick wanted to go to this creepy place for some reason. He said all the boys on the football team were talking about it. Which is weird because he doesn't play football. There was a time when I had a crush on Nick but then I found out he liked Carly. Nick has black hair and blue eyes. Honestly who wouldn't like that? Carly never showed an interest in him. She never did have a boyfriend she said that she prefers books. Boys technically drool over Carly. I know that her brown hair and dark brown eyes are pretty. My phone goes off and when I answer. Nick says that he's outside. ** I jump into the passenger seat. Nick lives a block away and Carly lives on the other side of town. "The football team said this place was cool." He starts the car. "People apparently do sacrifices to the devil. Is that just me or does that sound cool?" I close my eyes and imagine people huddled in circles trying to summon a demon. "It's just you." I say feeling slightly scared. "Oh don't be like that. Why aren't you my Mars anymore? You've been so different since last month." That's when I found out he liked Carly. "Ask Carly." I reply as I open my eyes. Nick looks hurt. "Can I turn on the radio?" I don't wait for Nick to answer. ** Carly's dad is a lawyer and her mom owns a hotel. The reason she lives on the other side of town is because that's where the rich people live. Carly comes out shortly after Nick knocked on her door. "What are we doing?" Carly opens the back car door. "A road trip." Nick says excitedly and starts the car. Carly pulls out a book and starts reading. "Well this road trip will be boring then." I mumble. ** We arrive at a rundown hospital like building. "It looks creepy." Carly points out as Nick opens the door for her. Wow just how pathetic is that? "No it looks awesome." Nick puts his arm around Carly. "Car it's not creepy." He murmurs. I wince at what he says then hide my pain by ducking my head. Carly notices this and mouths 'Sorry' I nod and walk toward the abandoned building. ** The first thing I see is blood on the walls and ground. I close my eyes and feel a hand on my shoulder. I look over and see Nick. I quickly swat his hand off and he has that hurt expression on his face again. He shrugs it off and walks toward a room. "Over here." Nick whispers and waves us over. "What?" Carly asks as she shifts her weight on one foot and crosses her arms. Carly might look sassy and rude but she's really not. "Well look inside." I say. Do we really need to play the guessing game? "No." Carly whisper screams. "I will then." I say as I walk slowly around the corner. People stand in a circle with red robes hiding their face. One notices me and points a shaky finger at me. Great now I'm going to die. I think bitterly. People turn and looks at me. Somebody starts to stride toward me. When he reaches me he grabs my arm and drags me over to the circle of people in red robes. A bowl sits in the middle of the group of people. The man throws me into the middle. Well this happened awful fast. I close my eyes and curl up in a ball. Somebody crouches next to me and holds a knife. The person grabs my hand in a fast movement and cuts my palm. Blood oozes from my hand. She holds my hand over the bowl. After a couple of second she pulls me up to a standing position. ** Smoke rises from the circle as I watch from the sidelines. I didn't run because I knew they had more people. 'How long will this take? I'm starving.' I think to myself. A figure is starting to form in the smoke. "What?" A man's voice booms throughout the room. Everybody bows except for me. "Who's she?" He growls. "We found her wondering about." A lady says standing up slightly. "Why isn't she bowing to me?" The man growls. "I don't want to.... And may I ask who you are?" I roll my eyes and cross my arms. "Who am I?" He laughs. "Why I'm the devil."
