The More You Understand The Better X With getting ill, some people choose to hide things from others to stop unnecessary worry or stress, others are just honest no matter what... I have a friend that falls under the first category. When he talks about his own problems he only gives the bare minimum and never complains or admits he needs support. Which is probably why he didn't tell us the reason he has been missing for the last few weeks,it is because he has been diagnosed with Leukemia. I met him 2 years ago through my martial arts class, I now see him as a close friend and part of our family ,in a way, within our martial arts group. He is always happy, positive and a very strong person. He is not young but still works as a officer in a prison and enjoys being with his family all the time and loves every aspect of #life, which is why it seems unfair why this has happened to him. But the thing is cancer doesn't choose and could get anyone. For those who don't know Leukemia is a cancer of the blood or bone marrow (which produces blood cells). A person who has leukemia suffers from an abnormal production of blood cells, generally leucocytes (white blood cells). These blood cells are created with abnormalities, normal blood cells die off after a while but the abnormal cells don't so easily and accumulate. As the bad cells are created more and more, they take up more and more space leaving less space for the normal ones. This makes the person very ill. There are various types of leukemia and in turn various treatments. The reason I am sharing this is to inform people on this type of cancer briefly and create an interest in learning about these #life threatening diseases. I believe that we should all try to understand as much as possible about these things to protect ourselves and those around us. Even if its just a little bit more info on these types of topics it helps people understand why researchers need support. Thank you for reading xx
