S.O.S (Part 1) Day One Katrina grasped the armrest of the seat as the plane shook violently. Her knuckles turned white and her fingers numb before she decided to let go. She took a deep breath, leaned forward and pulled the magazine out from the pocket on the seat in front of her. Katrina flipped through the colorful pages until she found an article she was interested in. It was about a young boy in a mental institution. She read about why he was there. Timothy Greene was the boy's name. He had hallucinations of creatures lurking in the dark spaces that he couldn't see, behind every corner. When he began to hear their whispers, he closed his eyes and counted to five. At six, he opened his eyes and turned on the light. His fears got so bad, sometimes he would scream the numbers or wake up in a cold sweat, mouthing the numbers with his eyes glazed over. The plane shook again and Katrina dropped the magazine. The plane didn't stop shaking and the pilot came over the speakers. "Ladies and gentlemen, it seems that we have hit a patch of rough air. The ride may be slightly bumpy. I--" the plane bounced again, interrupting him. The air masks fell down and a fight attendant came out demonstrating how to put them on. Katrina quickly pulled the mask over he mouth and nose and tightened it. This is why she would never fly to see her family in Tahiti. This is the reason she always stayed in her little town in Pensilvania. The plane dipped down and swerved to the right. The wings broke off with huge explosions, shaking and swerving the plane in various directions. Katrina closed her eyes. She hears screams. She opened her eyes to see smoke filling the walk way and covering the seats. Luggage flung out of the over head compartments and everything went black. What seemed like hours later, Katrina opened her eyes. This was not Tahiti. They had crash landed on a deserted island with many trees. Katrina lye on the soft white sands and tried to remember what had happened. She sat up and looked into the blue waters. She saw half of her plane in the water. Fire poured out the back end and bits of rubble floated in the water. Katrina was scared, but she knew what she had to do. She had to survive. Off came the shoes and socks and into the water went Katrina. She dove under the icy waves to pull up sharp bits of metal, rags, planks, and plastic. She dragged the items on to the shore and wondered what she could make with them. She brushed her brown hair out of her eyes and decided that the best thing she could do before night would be build a shelter. She set up some of the planks and draped a tarp over them to act as a tent. Next she gathered more wood from the wreck and some paper from a few remaining magazines and set them out to dry. She gathered some stones and made a ring. When night came, the wood and paper were dry so she placed them in the ring of stones and lit them with a few rocks that she recognized as flint and steel. Soon Katrina had a fire going and she crawled into her makeshift tent and fell asleep. Sorry if this story is stupid. It's my first story. If you want me to write about Katrina's day two, leave a comment saying so. What I have in mind for this story you just might like. Thank you!
