Blackbird: Chapter 1 Chapter 1: Raven's Point of View: When three strange men, and two small children along with a man who appeared only a bit older than me, appeared on my door step, I was instantly suspicious. They were dressed as royalty, posture perfectly straight and several gold trinkets hung from their pale bodies. "My family and I seek lodgings for a while. Would you be so kind to assist us? I heard you were the best." The man with the long black hair said. I was in the background, standing near my mother, when I caught the eye of one of the royal's family members. He smirked, winked at me, and cocked his head to the side slightly as if he was inspecting me. I blushes a crimson red. "Of course," My father exclaimed, giddy with the chance to house royalty. (We owned a hotel along with our large house.) "Raven, could you be so kind to show them to their rooms while I get their bags?" "Of course, father," I murmured softly, gesturing for the strange people to follow me. I walked swiftly up the stairs, my dark dress sliding with me as I went. I felt eyes on me. "Raven," The man who winked at me purred. "Beautiful name for a beautiful face." "And yet I don't know your name," I replied while giving out three rooms to the three men who seemed to be in charge. "Or the rest of your family's." "My name is Demetri," he said, taking my hand and placing a kiss upon it. "The twins behind us are Jane and Alec. They are children of Caius, the blonde man. Marcus, long dark brown hair, is brothers with Aro. Their wives are out on business..." "Interesting..." I tore my gaze away from him, opening a door to a room. "Jane, would you like your own room? Perhaps I could place Alec in the room across the hall?" "That would be nice," she said in a monotone, although she glared at me hatefully. Well, I didn't know being nice was a crime... I showed Alec to his room, and the Demetri to his. But he grabbed my wrist and pulled me to him. He was ice cold, his lips resting on my neck. "It was very nice to meet you, Raven. Till we meet again...." "Yes," I whispered as he released me and shut the door tightly. (Next day, a bit before dawn.....) I awoke early, dressed in my hiking clothes- tight black trousers and a white blouse. I shoved on my mother's old knee high boots, and climbed out of my window. I was walking through the woods, expecting someone to come out. Let me tell you something about myself. I have...this gift. The gift of knowledge: I can track someone, read their thoughts, see if their lying, see their future....it's painful, and it's the cause of most of my headaches. But, when you live in the 1500s, you learn not to say anything about your...individuality. Unless you want to be killed for being a "witch." And, with my gift, I could tell that Demetri would jump out of the tree to my right, the oak tree, and grin wickedly at me. And that's exactly what happened. "You don't seemed surprise to see me," he mused, stepping closer to me. "What's a woman doing alone in the woods?" "What are YOU doing in the woods?" He was slightly taken aback, but quickly recovered from my sudden question. "I like climbing trees," he lied, "it's a pass time. Plus, since my family is still...sleeping-" another lie "-I decided to go for a stroll." "You don't look like you slept. You're too perfectly clean to be-" "Being observant might not be such a great trait to have in the future, Miss Raven. I must be going. I shall see you soon, blackbird." The way he said my name, and had given me a nickname, sent chills all down my back. P Demetri grinned, kissing my neck, his ice cold lips lingering for two seconds too long, and then he walked back into the hotel. One thought was running through my mind. He's not human.
